That was a pretty good video. You made a horrible game look enjoyable! I have tried doing that level for hours before and just got frustrated and gave up. I never realized that it was actually possible to beat it. lol

Just watched this. Just mind blowing the patience you must have or you are stubborn and refuse to give up Btw, when you are done editing an episode and uploading it, have you started on the next game already? Just thought if that's the case you could do a Bond ending after each one where you say "See you next time in...*GAMES NAME*". Just a thought, mostly because I'm always curious on what the next one will be Said it before but I'll say it again great work!

i'm really enjoying these videos mate. its great to see someone so enthusiastic about these games that shaped our childhood! can't wait to see the rest, and im going to crack out my SMS and play some. I can't wait to see you tackle games like "Teddy boy". that game is stupid long, and if you can get thru all 50 levels then... you are a better man than i That's what the continue cheat is for so you can always continue on the level you die on instead of starting from level 1 Which is a reason why I love Teddy Boy and rate it as one of my favourites on the system

Yeah a level select cheat would have come in handy when play-testing the game during development

Poor you I bet you know every color block on every level by heart now I do (or at least did), and the first time I played hard mode with the levels flipped around it totally screwed with my head. I was so used to them the normal way after playing hundreds of times, it really confused my brain!

Another quality video and yet again you made the game look easy. Its a game I had as a kid and would play every now and then, but didn't really manage to get far in. Like you I thought the lack of background music was a shame, and combined with the black background in the graphics made the game feel bit 'empty' for lack of a better word. Watching your play through has given me a new appreciation for the graphics though, they are really well done with so many little neat touches. The animation in particular is really impressive, as are the huge flicker free and moving sprite based bosses. I guess some sacrifices had to be made to fit in so much of the 16bit original as they did.

The lack of music was just laziness really - I doubt it would have slowed it down. The same goes for the lack of backdrops, they could have added them, it just meant making the game able to display both foreground and background graphics, the engine is still having to fill the screen with the black tiles. You can see with a lot of the sprites that they've been squashed horizontally to fit into the sprite limit, so they look a bit screwed up - they could have got an artist to redraw them instead. The total lack of level start/end screens just adds to the "emptiness" - or rather, unfinished-ness.
Don't get me wrong, I like this game, and they did a whole load of good stuff - the mechanics of the rocks is pretty complicated, there's a decent end sequence, it just feels like they decided to cut a bunch of the little things that would normally be added to the game. Also, I never got past Nessie...

I didn't really notice any of the games faults whilst I was playing, although the lack of BGM did register now and again, but I was pretty much engrossed in the game for the most part . When I was doing my high score run I noticed the faults more because I pretty much knew the game off by heart so didn't have to concentrate as hard, but even then it wasn't overly bad . There are some pretty cool parts of the game that I didn't capture on film too, some of the puzzles to get to some of the bonus items are pretty tricky to work out ;D. Maxim - Nessy is a real pain in the ass! I haven't made it through the game without losing a life on Nessy yet, the controls on that part are too loose to be able to get through it on skill, you have to get somewhere near the optimum spot, kick away and hope for the best .

Great stuff as usual mate. Definitely got me in the mood to play it again. Did you start recording after you had played a game bit beforehand this time?
I've always felt there was a strange emptiness about it but the graphics are great when I look back at them again. It's pretty underrated so hopefully your video will get people to give it a go.

Great stuff as usual mate. Definitely got me in the mood to play it again. Did you start recording after you had played a game bit beforehand this time? Good stuff, if my vids get people playing SMS games more then my goal is reached ! That was the first time I played it in a while, but I knew the first two levels pretty well from playing it in the past, never got past Nessy when I played before though! It's actually quite hard to make these vids when I haven't played a game before. Obviously, when making a video it's easier to have it storyboarded in your head before you start out, but if you don't know what to expect it's kind of hard to do that. I try and play as much of the game as I can for the first time on video generally, but I don't want to show the same sections over and over so if I die more than once on a level I start cutting stuff out - sometimes it's easier to just replay the level . I'm currently stuck on the last level of Episode 4's game, have now died 48 times on the last level
