O no, you didn't! It's ok though, I realize it's not the best game but it's one of my all time favorites so I enjoyed watching it. I'd give it a go, but not too fond of looping for hours on end

Great stuff as usual mate. I share the same opinion in that Transbot is just too basic to be any good.
That's 2 easy ones in a row now though. I want to see you challenge yourself with the next game, mainly because I want to see some gaming rage, haha ;D

Great series, really enjoying this mate.
I do confess to having a bit of a soft spot for Transbot though. As you said it was one of the cheap games I had "back in the day" and remember my dad showing off the size of the sega card to my uncle who was still loading tapes into his BBC micro. I played this for hours, but never got to the point where it crashed. IMO it does have some good aspects, such as the smoothness, the enemy patterns and the lack of slowdown when there is quite a lot on the screen. As you said though, ultimately it's just too basic. It really needed to double the number of enemies on the screen at any given time to present a challenge. Weapons could do with a major soup-up and the lack of variety, even for a card game is very poor.

I think the game does a lot for 32k, the game really needed to be on a bigger capacity cartridge so it could have had more proper levels. The graphics are great though in my opinion, it kind of has the look of a 3D game, with the rotating enemy sprites and multi-layered backgrounds. The whole weapons select idea is a total waste though, seeing as you need a specific weapon to progress. I really thought I had a broken cartridge as a kid, it just seemed so wrong that there weren't more levels. I even opened up my cartridge to check it, not that I knew what I was looking at back then!
I have a love hate relationship with Transbot, its not a great game but I can see the potential in the ideas and appreciate the aspects that were done well. I think people do expect too much from it for some reason, most other 32k games are just as repetitive and limited - Bank Panic, My Hero, Hang On etc. As a budget game it works well enough and acted as an introduction to the shmup genre for a whole lot of people. If it had been a £30 game, then it would have been on a bigger cart and much more advanced, there were full price games released that were a lot worse than Transbot.

Nice episode! TransBot is awesome! It's been 6 years now since that first contest we had when I scored ~2,5M and the game glitched all over me. I see now that brian has a 5,5M+ hi-score, and with no sign of garbled graphics... quite an achievement.

great Idea, I like it Got me playing the Ninja again so thanks for that. Good stuff, getting people playing is the main aim of the videos With looping games I'm just gonna play til they loop and then class it as beaten, that doesn't mean I'll stop there though, I love going for high scores so I'll probably play as long as I can off camera . When it comes to sports games I was thinking about doing 'match of the day' style highlights, I was planning on doing round ups too rather than one at a time, i.e; all tennis games in one episode. Sports games won't get much views as far fewer people are interested in them so I think that's the best way to cover them It's been a while! No pressure Haha, I know, I know!!! I'm not gonna bore you with the details but lets just say if it could go wrong it has! Plus I'm getting my ass handed to me by the game ;D. Should be along by the end of next week hopefully (read if I can beat it

Good luck mate, waiting impatiently I literally just this minute beat the game! I am running round punching the air and grinning like a madman ;D ;D ;D. I love that feeling of beating a game well and truly, especially one you've struggled with, the harder it is the better the feeling of accomplishment . Hopefully I'll have episode 7 up before the week is out, there's a lot of editing to do though mate, 12 hours of footage to work through and try and make an episode out of, I died a lot! So happy lol!!

My God! This episode has been an absolute nightmare to film and even worse to get online! But the final part is nearly up now after around 30 hours of failed uploads and disappearing videos ;D. I'm not sure what time it'll go live but when it does it'll be here: youtu.be/jClwK9f3DLMNone of the other parts are live yet but they are uploaded and links will be in the description, please watch the end of the final part, I'm giving you guys the option to pick which game I play next from a choice of three so I'd like a bit of participation! I'll update this thread in the morning with proper links, hope you enjoy
