Edit: a stupid question to a thought I just had. Which way do you usually pick left or right on the crossroad on outrun? Since i know it, i take for the first playthrough always the left. The left course is always the easier one in the OutRun games, while the right one is more challenging. I think the Ages Remake of OutRun has the biggest difficulty difference in the left and right tracks, followed by OutRun 2006 (and it's an amazing games with great visuals on the tracks, all those waterfalls, forests and other scenerys, it still looks great) Maybe people take the right one out of instinct and maybe that's why they made that one more difficult?

Leftwards is supposed to be easier but I am struggling with the very first left stage on my arcade cab in comparison to the right, but maybe it's just me.

Yes thats much better and that dark stage 4 looks awsome!,i never owned a ps2. After owning a Dreamcast and the Game cube i became p*ssed off with gaming and turned my back on it for a while so as a result i completely missed the PS2 and X-box era, other gamers have told me i missed some good times.

Maybe people take the right one out of instinct and maybe that's why they made that one more difficult? Ah, okey. Could be just natural that you go from left to right easier to harder. Or if there is actually a connection to the driving on the side of the road, they drive on the left side in Japan thus it was just natural that the easier side would be the one more people in Japan would choose first. But then again, that goes against the logic of arcade games. SEGA wouldn't make as much money if the easier road was the natural choice for most players in the Japanese arcades. After owning a Dreamcast and the Game cube i became p*ssed off with gaming and turned my back on it for a while so as a result i completely missed the PS2 and X-box era, other gamers have told me i missed some good times. Well, yeah Atleast the PS2 with its massive library has quite a few great games.

Well I always go left on my first run through, but I think that's because it's a bit easier rather than some national preference. I forgot Retrobob has an Out Run can, that's a great cab to have!

Atleast the PS2 with its massive library has quite a few great games. Agreed, the PS2 with it big library of games and so many great and awesome games (and even more hidden titles, most people propably never heard of) makes it one of the absolute must-have systems.

Actually it's route A to the left that is the hardest and the difficulty goes down with each letter, E being the easiest. I guess it's really whatever you're used to though. But it's much harder to finish with extra time on A which is where most of your score comes from. If you watch the SMS Out Run Video I posted from about 7:00 to the end it shows all the endings and he has like 35 extra seconds on E and only 2 seconds left on A. Edit: I guess I'm wrong. It shows it clearly in this video at 0:25 I go to E 75% of the time and never considered it that hard. Left has so many more sharp turns in my opinion. Again, I guess it's what you're used to.

Now that I think about it I actually got Wonder Boy III and Out Run at the same time (for Christmas 1992). Funny they should go head to head in the first knockout round. I still return to both games from time to time, but Wonder Boy III always brings back fonder memories.
