Isn't this link just referring to the GG version? There wasn't a mention of a Classic SoR on Guardiana so far as I could see.

Isn't this link just referring to the GG version? It is. But for a valid reason. project2 suggested (by way of his image) that this newly-discovered SMS version is a fake because the classic Streets Of Rage on the GameGear has a squared logo, whereas the classic for the SMS has a much more "flowing" logo, taken from the normal SMS release. Kenneth was pointing out that the only reason the GameGear classic release has a square logo is because the normal GameGear release has a squared logo, too, inferring that it's not a valid reason to discount the SMS version.

Hello everyone, i´m siteadmin from the spanish collectors forum refered by project-2. We are talking about this game, and the most of the members think that´s fake. My first suspicion was in the white down line: That´s could be normal in old games, that wear occurs from the use, but those games seems like new or allegedly forgot in box a lot years. My second suspicion was in the logo: Only 3 classics games contain the same logo from the original releases, the rest have differents details likes a logo table, different colours or other ones, but understand that the GG version, has a different logo and this is not relevant at all. Anyway the most important, ALL the classics got differents logo sizes, but this one got the exactly same logo size. Very simple right? My third suspicion. Asking with cyberguile in my site, he´s talking about the 2006 discover "Robocop vs Terminator". Yes, but there is not the same comparison, Robocop Vs Terminator had a low distribution, includes SNES. There is a possibility about to release cancelled. But Street of Rage has distribution by SEGA, not Virgin or Codemasters (Dinobasher). We´ve got a AAA game, and Sega produced only 3 copies and founded now? in 2011? Maybe 2006, when the collecting was emerging. We have a lot of very good fakes from neo-geo AES, create a fake of a classic MS game is very simple. Just create a insert and take a cart and manual from the original release. Now looking the last member response, the guy bought a SOR original copy, JEJE. And looking his sales, he sells fakes headphones and do not mention it in the description. Ah, and some guys have asked to take more photos to the seller and havent response. Could put the seller better pics here? I apologize for being suspicious, but I hate exploited people.

I could well be wrong on this, but I'm finding the bidding a bit suspicious. Theres a bidder with just 19 feedback putting on the sort of bid amounts you'd expect from a shill account. And in the last 30 days all that accounts bids have been with this same seller.
You'd have to be really into sms collecting to want to throw so much money at this variation, so having a feedback score of just 19 doesn't seem right to me.

It's good to get to see all these arguments. I'm more and more convinced now that it's a fake.
Thanks bel for coming over to explain the spanish forum's reasons for thinking it is a photoshopped cover!

I apologize for being suspicious, but I hate exploited people. There's no need to apologise; a suspicious mind is a healthy mind. :) As you and others have stated: there's a lot about this situation which doesn't quite add up. With all this "fake vs real" talk, people seem to be forgetting that there's also a third possibility: the original one is indeed real, but the buyer copied it and made fakes in order to profit from it. For the record, I am not accusing anyone of such an act, I'm simply making the point that just because there may be fakes out there doesn't necessarily mean that they're all fake.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but as much I can understand from the story of source (as Kenneth translated it here: shinobiman.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=8162&page=3#81590 ), the game is unreleased. I thought it is a prototype, which was under construction but possibly never finalized to be sent to shops. So, this would explain why it has some strange/suspicious/unusual signs... Maybe it's only a story was made by 'revo', but not so unlikely to be true... In my opinion, the suspicious part starts with the other 2 copies... Suddenly appeared 2 more and were all together..?? I would say, it's very very lucky to be true! I'll agree with Aypok: people seem to be forgetting that there's also a third possibility: the original one is indeed real, but the buyer copied it and made fakes in order to profit from it. I believe nobody from here will buy it and we'll never learn the "truth"... We need someone to be sacrificed in the name of SMScience... ;D
