Jeez... You guys should know me better. Disapointing... Consider these few points and gather up some common sense along the way. 1) This game/variant is not for sale. It's part of my collection. Surely if I was to fake it, I would have already accepted some of the fantastic offers I have had via PM across a few messageboards. 2) I can provide a photo from any angle as crisp as possible should you require it. I'm not hiding anything. I'll even photograph it infront of my monitor should that suffice. 3) I've been collecting for over 10 years now, I enjoy the thrill of the hunt and love finding these things. What possible benefit would I have to begin doing what I hate and 'producing' fake covers with little gain? 4) I know countless collectors who can vouch for me on my validity where this is concerned. Hell, even ninjabearhug lives a few miles away, I'm sure he would be happy to vefiry and silence any doubt some of you are having. Bottom line is, this is real. Deal with it. And Bock, considering you were one of the ones attempting to purchase this game from me, you sure have changed your tone. You didn't once raise doubt over it's validity until after I refused to sell... If a crisp pixel perfect picture is what you require, then I'll bite... Enjoy this: Satisfied?

Haha, this thread turned sour!!! Why would he fake it, he's a (well known) collector showing off his newest SMS acquisition, much like every other collector on here does. All of the major collector's knew it was a possibilty that this would turn up, if I was to unveil an Asterix gift set would I get accused of being a faker? I believe you Cauterize, and I also knew you wouldn't sell it, hence me not making you an offer, but I suppose I know you a little better than most on here .

I'm curious to know what offers you have recieved i seem to remember the Sonic 2 variant which a member found here a while ago was sold for quiet a high amount. Funny thing was i remember the person who found it randomly recieved it in a bundle.

Sigh, looks like another one to add to the rare items section. I honestly don't understand all the craziness over variants like this, but whatever. It's been awhile since we had a good flame war.

Sweet, let's start arguing about who does and who doesn't care about variants and why again.
/end sarcasm

I'm very very sorry Cauterize, please don't be disapointing ! It was not against you, i'm just always suspicious Find a new "item/variation" 15 years later surprise me. Well done and please forgive me to be suspicious and keep it in your collection.

ichigo: the cover is certainly odd, but it was pictured on an old advertising with sonic 2 and home alone showcasing the "master system II" logo and... it was the same cover. as for "three pictures instead of four", I really don't see your point since some games (de tête, moonwalker and shinobi) have variants with more or less screenshots on the back cover. and as for the cover being ugly, well, it's a master system game so... lol

Well, my apologies too. I just get a bit frustrated at such claims when we all know these things exist. It was a long day yesterday, so sorry if that came though. Bock's comment was the one that personally got to me. Had he not sent an offer of interest via PM, I would have let it go. But to suddenly make such statements suggesting doubt seemed rather odd and unjustified. Stew (ninjabearhug), thanks for kindly chipping in. I forget that we know each other well, while I could be a stranger to others. To those not too familiar with me, you'll find I love this community too much to potentially screw anyone or anything related to it over. I was once hit by an unfortunate fake cover scan on eBay a few years back, I bought two large bundles of Saturn games only to recieve empty dvd cases with printed covers. Faking them and photographing them is one thing, but to mail them out is just pure insult. Following this and others who have suffered from similar issues, signs of counterfeiting I look down upon with discust. No hard feelings though to anyone, life is too short

I do admit that the Bock thing is a little depraved, but it's Bock. So wait, what is the current consensus on these two? Are we declaring them some sort of foreign display inserts for stores or something?

Depends what you call foreign - I saw it in the UK for Sonic 2 as a display, but the actual games they handed out were with the regular sleeve.

Not sure if its me your refering to me in that post but I got my copy of the Sonic 2 variant in a bundle of ebay and I did not randomly receive it. The game was clearly visible in the auction photograph and this was after looking at every Sonic 2 and bundle auction for about 18 months. I think Onyx was watching the same auction too but could not bid for one reason or another. Think I got the bundle for around £17 in the end. Haven't sold it yet though. Probably one of he rarest things in my collection. Congrats on your find Cauterize. I just know I'm going to be looking at all the Batman Returns auctions now for quite a while.

Heh sorry if my comment was misinterpreted. I originally didn't think at all it could even be a fake, its just that after reading the first comments suggesting that I asked myself "why is the picture (the first one you posted) such of bad quality?" (it's very blurry you can admit). It was not a "claim" or an "accusation" merely a thought (and you got to admit a legit thought at that point). I am the one who replied to ichigobankai with a link to Sonic 2 to suggest that Batman Returns probably exist the same way. As to who is who and collecting what since when I barely know about those things so forgive me if you feel I ignored your track record / seriousness / etc. Anyway its a pretty cool find you've got there, congrats

- title Screen taken from a gamegear version... a very very bad point Neither the SMS or GG title screens have a yellow Batman badge. The yellow badge is more synonymous with the first film rather than the second; the badge is white on most Batman Returns packaging and merchandise; the only time the yellow badge appears is in the film on Batman's chest. The yellow badge on the SMS box seems a very odd inconsistency.
