I'd like to see some really good 2D platformers with some of the clever ideas you see in the likes of new super mario bros. Perhaps some based on films, always imagined that 'A Clockwork Orange' could be made into a cool SMS game. Would love to see a new Alex Kidd of AKMW quality. Or even just an extra level pack for Alex Kidd in Shinobi World, that game could be the best on the system if it had twice as many levels imo (obviously rising in difficulty from where the last level finished off (before they just repeat bosses).

How about a Duke Nukem Unlimited (nameplay on the: "now there are no limits") on SMS?

AK: SW with 10X the levels. You beat me to it. And Miracle Warriors II would be sweet.

Zillion or a 3D Fantasy Zone. I guess just about any of the early SMS games revisited would be cool.

How looks that? The Santa Claus is kidnapped. Only Alex Kidd and his "reindeer" Dinosaur Dooley could rescue him!! Alex rides on Dooley through the levels of snow, snow mountains, a race against some bad snowmans and some fake santas, an ice hockey match against evil fir trees and more jump n run levels where Alex & Dooley must slip through chimneys or something xD Alex can hit the enemys with his amazing punch and Dooley can shoot snowballs on his oppenents. The bosses will play the stone-paper-scissors game against the heroes It would be a great christmas game

I've always felt the SMS lacked a run 'n' gunner. I think it could do Contra better than the NES did.
I'm also one who would have liked AKIMW 2. Use the same sprites, same engine, just make new levels. Perhaps making this game is actually doable for some programmers? Let's make it happen!

Robocop vs. Terminator, The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day all sort of fit that bill from a side-scrolling perspective, and I think RvT is actually pretty damned good. Predator 2 is a really solid isometric run and gun, and then we've got good top down shooters like Rambo/Secret Command(o), Alien Syndrome, Time Soldiers. Not a genre totally unrepresented on the system, but it definitely would have been cool to have a Contra-style clone (sort of like what Master of Darkness is to Castlevania).

I also think the SMS is lacking a really defining side scrolling run and gun game. RVT is good, but it would be nice to have something a bit faster paced and colourful. Personally I'd take Metal Slug as inspiration for a SMS run and gun game, the Neo Geo Pocket versions in particular show how it could be done.

I would have really like have seen a good run’n’gun game on the system too. Even a port of Contra would have been interesting to see how it would have compared to the beloved NES version. A proper sequel to Miracle World would also be good, as well as a new Wonder Boy game. Actually I’d settle for a new Wonder Boy game on any system.
