Everyone has that one game they just could not wait to get their hands on to pop in the Master System, due to reviews, box arts, commercials, title, etc..BUT, soon as the SEGA start up fades away and you hit that start button your anticipation turns to disgust..I honestly enjoy most every Master game I've played(which has been alot if not most) but one game that I can think of that I just could not wait to play because all the hype was Ghostbusters..I'm sure I'll get tons of grief for that, but when I was a kid I LOVED the movie and had the toys, watched the cartoon, even had the underwear!! When I finnally got the game for my Master System I just knew it was gonna be the best experience EVER!! Well, my dream game quickly turned into a nightmare..I actually don't mind it too much now as I'm older and know more about whats going on, but when I was a kid, my friends and I were extremely dissapointed and it sat under the T.V. with all the other crap games and movies that and never got any PT it probably deserved..What was your biggest dissapointment game??

Alex Kidd The Lost Stars and Alex Kidd In Miracle World. I thought both of these would be really fun but I found them so boring I never completed them. I'm bracing myself for a barrage of attacks but I stand by that statement.

I'm sure the attacks will be strong and brutal for the ole' Miracle World...I thought it was/is pretty decent, Lost Stars is pretty weak but definately not as bad as High Tech world (imo of course).

Would probably go for Sonic Chaos and the "is that it?" feeling after blitzing through the game. Mercifully the cart was dodgy and thing crashed a fair bit so it got exchanged for Desert Strike.

I loved sonic chaos and miracle. lost stars and high tech are not my favourites I must admit. I heard some good things about aztec adventure back in the day. But when I finally got it, I couldn't be bothered with finishing it. Frankly, I found it boring.

Sonic Chaos was awesome fun but it was incredibly short and had nothing to give it reply value. The gameplay was, speed dashes aside, pretty much identical to Sonic 2 which is a far superior game. Sonic 2 lasted me a fair while as a kid, but Sonic Chaos was over in the weekend I got it (I made it to the level 5 boss on my first go!).
My opinions on Miracle World are immortalised in a review on this site - not that I cared about it in the first place, I was much more interested in Operation Wolf which came with my SMS2!

Biggest dissappointment from what I can remember was heroes of the lance. I got that game from my parents and it was just awful.

Bart vs. the Space Mutants I'm still a Fan of the Simpsons (Well, the first 10 seasons) and so back then i bought the game and hoped it was great. It was faeces. It sucked. Worst of all, it wasn't even the worst Simpsons game i ever bought, because i also bought Escape from Camp Deadly for the Game Boy...
Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars After the great Miracle World i hoped for a great sequel. While Lost Stars isn't complete faeces, it was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay to easy and to play every level twice just sucks.
Aerial Assault Got it for Christmas. Great Cover and thought it would be great. It was just boring. It's one of the most mediocre Shooter i've ever played and the levels drag on for too long.

Ahh man, there's nothing but love for the entire Alex Kidd franchise. I loved how all the SMS games were completely different. You never got the same thing twice. I can see how The Lost Stars and High-Tech World get some hate, but Miracle World is such a wicked platformer. You can play it fast or play it slow and it's always fun. I used to think the control scheme was too loose, but playing it again over Christmas break I really found myself loving it. I think it rightfully deserves to be called the best game on the system as previously voted by S8B members.
But to answer the question at hand - the game that disappointed me most was probably R-Type. There are so many other great shmups on the system, playing R-Type after the likes of Power Strike, Thunder Blade, Bomber Raid, Astro Warrior and Blade Eagle 3-D left me sort of underwhelmed. I don't care for the music and the slow down is a bother. Still, the game is good, which shows how tough it is to find a game that's really disappointing on this quality over quantity system.

Thunderblade, really? It's borderline unplayable in the 3D bits.

Thunderblade, really? It's borderline unplayable in the 3D bits. I like it. It adds variety and I think they did a much better job with the scaling than the boxy Space Harrier. The top down stuff has some beautiful graphics, too.

Golden Axe, when I realised it wasn't 2 player. Still a very good game but just needed that 2 player action to have made it great. I assume it just wasn't possible at the time due to the system's relatively limited capabilities?!
