Time for a new competition me thinks ;D. I'm not expecting to do very well in this one, I can score quite well in the first few levels, but I tend to just blast through the last few. Let the gaming commence . EDIT: Here's my first entry, 174,950, easily beatable. I finally found all the hidden scrolls today, got this score in the hidden level. That hidden level is solid ;D. I'll try again later and see if I can finish it .

Going to give this a go right now. First things first, we should state at the outset that you can obviously NOT USE THE TREE TRICK. This is the trick where you can gain like ten lives by hitting one of the trees for a LONG time in the first level. After doing this, you will get a hit percentage of 0 and will receive 999999 points. So, obviously, no using this to get your score! This should be based on using other game mechanics like getting to the end, even if it means you get more points by repeating certain sections until you die. Beating it is not necessary, obviously, but NO TREE TRICK!

I don't understand how you beat the game and got a score that low. Are you sure you got ALL the green scrolls? I mean, you have to to get to the end, but I just don't understand, you must be really flying through the game and chucking stars everywhere. The 100% hit ratio is critical to getting a high score. I only screwed it up on three of the levels (boulders, river, and wall, don't think it's too possible there). I've only made it as far as level seven I think (where at the start four boomerang ninjas appear, two behind you, they always get me until I remember they're going to be coming) and I managed a score of:
380,500

Rightio, after a LOT of playing I finally racked up a score I'm happy with. My high score is 538,200I'm sure this will take some beating. I got a 100% hit ratio in most levels thanks to a technique I use in which I kill multiple enemies with 1 shot. I also took advantage of the regenerating enemies on the last basement level before completing the game.

Same trick I use! Only levels it's tough to get to work are the ones I mentioned because you don't really have the chance to do it. I think the only way to beat that one there is to loop through the last level as much as possible before dying. Damn high!

I mean, you have to to get to the end, but I just don't understand, you must be really flying through the game and chucking stars everywhere. I didn't complete the game. I was still searching for a couple of the scrolls in that run, so, yeah, I was chucking stars everywhere. You've got to remember, I only played this game for the first time the other day and as I refuse to cheat/use walkthroughs etc, finding the scrolls was quite challenging. I know the location of the scrolls now and have mastered ALL the levels leading up to the hidden level, once I've played through the remaining levels a few times I'll be ready for a high score run. Regenerating enemies? Thanks for mentioning that ian, hadn't realised . Theoretically then, the hit ratio doesn't mean that much if there is a constant barrage of enemies for you to kill....

I still made sure to get a good hit ratio though. There's a spot near the start of the level you can go back and forward to regenerate some enemies, which are pretty easy to kill. I shouldn't really be giving away my tactics but you'll need the help

I shouldn't really be giving away my tactics but you'll need the help Damn right I will!!! I haven't managed to get past the hidden level yet, kept taking the wrong route and then getting hit by a stray projectile . I find it really hard to see the throwing stars on that level on my LCD telly, really need to buy another CRT . I have managed a higher score, 255,200, didn't bother taking a pic though as I'm certain I can do a lot better. I mean, I haven't even completed it properly yet ;D.

Look out guys...39,400!
Haha, just started. Fun game. Levels are challenging because of the control, but at least they are nice and short and easy to memorize. I kept getting owned by the wolves on level three.

Best thing on the wolves is to corral them. When they start to come out, don't forget you can double back to the very start of the round. Keep going until they're in a straight line, then have at them one at a time with the wimpy stars if you have them, or let them all fall with a single super star if you have that. Gets you the % you need too.

Okay, not so humiliating now: 163,550. Managed to get to the river level. I like how the game mixes things up with levels like that and the boulder level, but those levels are quite challenging, especially to get the 100% hit. I find the sideways scroll of the second level makes it very tough to get accurate shots, since you're always defaulting to a diagonal run.

Best thing on that level is to fire as few shots as possible. Just dodge the attacks of the ninjas and make sure all your shots hit the boss.
There was a few levels I couldn't get the 100% hit ratio on. I remember one being the horse level as I found it difficult to disappear without firing a shot off at the same time.

Yeah, I figured that one out and can now get 100% no problem on the first four levels. I've got it once on level five and probably could do it again, but haven't got there a whole lot as of now. I've gotten to the end of level six with all the houses - I just keep getting boned by those dudes who jump out of the houses. I always end up forgetting. Right now my high score is 269,050.
