The asteroid zone is by far the hardest area from loop 2 onwards, the rest are a piece of cake in comparison. I find the asteroids to be really easy; the the blue ships that follow are/were the problem. :) Out of interest, how many times did you lose your weapons and power back up again? I only lost my weapons once (stray bullet on 3-1) and didn't get a chance to power back up again, but I reckon powering back up from scratch must pile on those points. Two or three. I can now restart from any position and get back up to speed without too much trouble. Even on the second loop of the third level.

I find the asteroids to be really easy; the the blue ships that follow are/were the problem. Yeah, I was referring to the zone as a whole. Galaxy and Nebula zones are simple in comparison. The worst part of the asteroid zone has to be just before the second attack of blue rocket things, If you don't have any power ups it can be quite hard to take out all those other ships that follow you around. One of those on your tail is the last thing you want when you're dodging all those bullets ;D So just out of interest, I purposely died as soon as I met the bosses. After sending the bosses off, I powered back up during each zone, before dying again when I got to the next boss. Only did this up until 2-1 and then compared it to a straight run without losing any lifes up until the same zone. You get A LOT of points for powering back up.... ...but if you screw up you have less chances to regain your composure

So, I don't know if it's the pressure of Aypok's score or what, but I keep dying at around 3-2 or 3-3, and always score between 440,000 and 450,000. I'm determined to beat your score though, Aypok . Edit: Regained the top spot!!! 562,000

New score, 666,100 ;D. Managed to get to the beginning of 4-2 at which point the blue icicle things caught me out as usual . I'm getting pretty damn good at this now, I'm not going to stop playing until I reach the max score, two thirds there now .

Damn. Nice going, Ninja.
I'm going to see what I can do about that tonight. Probably not much, but I'll give it a shot. :)

Wow, man, great work. Astro Warrior is always a game I've meant to play more of. I think it's my favorite shooter on the system - sometimes simplicity is bliss. Okay, well maybe not as good as Fantasy Zone or Blade Eagle 3-D, but close. I love the music, though, I could play in that world for hours. I wish I had some free time to tackle this beast, but there is no way I'd come even close to that score. I'll just be comfortable in my achievement of having finished Cloud Master.

I didn't want to get out of bed this morning so I busted out my PlayPal and gave the game a whirl. Died before the first boss but was instantly addicted again. I then hooked the SMS back up and played this the real way, and did much better. Nothing to bark about yet, but a decent start. I made it midway through the third level to clock 136,100. It took me awhile to realize two things: First, that the lights on the structures you fly over (and that you can shoot) don't hurt you. I had just assumed that since you could shoot them out they were like enemies and couldn't be touched. Made my life much easier when I realized that. The second realization was that those purple orb things were actually little satellite shooters. I had always been avoiding them thinking they were crossfire. I love just dominating the first level when you get all those powerups.
Great selection, guys. I'm hooked!

Haha, that's the funniest thing I've heard in ages, avoiding your own drone ships . I'm not generally a fan of looping games, but I love this one, just sucks you in. I've stopped playing it now, but if anyone beats my top score I'll be straight back on it ;D. I've actually beaten my top score (by a considerable amount too) but I was playing on a GG at work and didn't have a camera handy so I'm not going to post it .

Well, to be fair the drones have the exact same color palette as those amoeba orb things and that's when both make their debut, so I just assumed it was some unholy mess those things shot out.
Made some progress this morning before work - 291,000. I was doing awesome, making it through the entire first loop but I died right at the boss on the first level. I have a lot of trouble with that boss, honestly. I find that once you get your powerups to reach maximum speed it's really tough to dodge those seven clusters of bullets it shoots out. Once I die and fight the boss it's easy. I made it to the middle of round two or so. Man, that gets tough when the icicles shoot stuff out. Especially when you have no powerups. My main goal was to complete the game, but I think I'll keep trying it until I get at least 300,000, since that seems to be the elite club!

Well, I made it past the first boss on the second loop on a single life, but once I got to those icicles I was toast. I lost a bunch of lives there and then died midway through the level once I was starting to get some powerups. I can't imagine what level three is like on the second loop, yikes!
Have any of you guys gotten the drones on any level other than the first? I can't seem to find them anywhere else, which is a bummer if you die on the second level or the first boss even. I also don't like how unlike your speed or weapon powerups, if you miss a drone once it never comes back. You've got to play the rest of the game without it. Why can't those Surely Revive?

Dodging the blue rockets is easy once you get the hang of it, you just need to use the whole screen. Start off quite high up, the rockets fire as soon as they are close to you. If you start high up the bullets are all at the top of the screen giving you more room to avoid the bullets by moving downwards and more time to reposition for the start of the next wave. Whatever you do don't get yourself trapped in the bottom corners, it's OK to start a wave at the side of the screen as long as you're high up, but once you're in a corner you're screwed .

Seriously, I have gone the distance with only one drone and never have I had a chance to get another one after missing the drone at the start of the first level. Maybe all the extra drones have migrated to the UK? Thanks for the tip ninja, I'm definitely going to give it a try. I had a game or two tonight but it was pretty uneventful. I made it to the first boss on the second loop, but it was a topsy turvy round, I think I only got 271,000. Weak. I must preserve. Revive!

I've been playing it some more this morning (after a short break), but I keep getting stuck at the start of 2-2... I can't even break 300,000 points anymore.
So I'm giving up. I'll have to settle for second place (or lower, when my score gets beaten). :)
