I tended to avoid Canadian lots since they were always the multi-language versions of the games when personally I feel the US games look a lot cleaner and have much more artistically done manuals. I got a good deal on a couple Canadian lots though, and couldn't say no to the cheap shipping, so now finally I have a few titles that had long eluded me...Canadian barcode releases. As I understand it, any European game brought over that had a barcode on the insert had a sticker placed over top. Now, I've read that the UPC was always on the paper, but I have an example here where it's on the outer plastic (Casino Games). Oddly enough, any US game we got (Rambo, Alf, etc.) did not have a Canadian barcode despite there being a US barcode on the insert. Does UPC coding go by continent or something? Anyway, the point of this thread is to compile a list here (similar to the Now there are no limits list) for others to reference. I don't really understand how they approached barcodes overseas, since some games from 1988 onwards have them on the paper, and then some don't. For instance, games like R-Type and Altered Beast do not have the barcode, but Casino Games and California Games do. Canada got European releases of the later designed titles like Dick Tracy and Castle of Illusion, and then we got a few more like Dynamite Dux and Scramble Spirits that the US never got. So for any interested in Canadian variants, here is a list of all the games that by all logic would need the barcode sticker (since the games have the barcode built into the insert). I'll put confirmed beside any that someone currently has, so let me know if you have any of these. Possible games with the Canadian UPC barcode:Alex Kidd in Miracle World Alex Kidd in Shinobi World (confirmed) Basketball Nightmare (confirmed) Battle OutRun (confirmed) Bomber Raid (confirmed) California Games (confirmed) Casino Games (confirmed) Castle of Illusion: Starring Mickey Mouse Cloud Master The Cyber Shinobi (confirmed) Danan: The Jungle Fighter Dead Angle Dick Tracy Dynamite Dux E-SWAT Gain Ground (confirmed) Galaxy Force (confirmed) Ghostbusters (confirmed) Ghouls'n Ghosts Golden Axe Golvellius: Valley of Doom Great Football Great Volleyball The Ninja OutRun 3-D Parlour Games (?) Psycho Fox R.C. Grand Prix Rescue Mission Scramble Spirits Slap Shot (confirmed) Super Monaco GP Super Tennis Tennis Ace Ultima IV Wanted Wonder Boy Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap (confirmed) World Games (confirmed)

I have an R.C. Grandprix that is quite possibly a candidate. It has a sticker but I can not confirm until I verify it this Sunday; the game is in my mom's house which is where I store most of my games.

I forgot about that one, but it would be a definite candidate since the insert has the barcode printed on the actual paper itself. Let me know.

Yep, saw the barcode. I wondered about it because World Games was not an NTSC release, so I checked it out. Once I saw the barcode I understood, but I didn't buy it.

Having done a quick, half-asleep check of my collection, I've found:
Alex Kidd in Miracle World Golvellius Basketball Nightmare
All have the Canadian UPC.

And I'm still irked that I had two copies of World Games with the sticker on it. One, I traded off and the other just has the remainder of the sticker because it was on the exterior plastic.

Danan, hey? It just goes to show that a lot more Euro games out there were brought over here than have been documented.

Interesting list, Mr. Lazer, I still wonder about the validity of it all though, since some of the parts here aren't referring to the UPC code, such as the mention of presumably the Irwin "Hang-on/Safari Hunt", since the game was never released at retail and thus would not require a barcode. I wonder about Power Strike, as well, since we likely would have got the European packaging with the multiple languages, if we got it at all. I'll keep on the lookout for Canadian lots, though, to try and see if any of the others mentioned turn up.

So only a handful of these are verified? We need some others to help out with this. I have zero with the barcode or I would help.
