Alright, need a thread specifically for this because it's something the database definitely needs. I myself have only three consoles out of the kabillion, so we need console pictures. Here's what we're looking for if you missed it:
1. Picture of the console complete in box from all possible sides. If there are sides that are similar to others, don't bother with them.
2. Picture showing the inner components sitting in the styrofoam.
3. Picture of the inner components separated out.
4. Picture of inserts, etc. up close.
And the details:
1. Preferably jpg format.
2. Two pictures for each of the four required shots liste above. One picture should be formatted at 534x401 and labeled something like 'console.' The other picture should be the same, but smaller, at 384x288, labeled something like 'consolesmall.' Keep in mind that these dimensions are obviously for longer width. If you do one vertically, just switch the numbers around.
3. Post them here for me to save directly, or PM me for email information or to send me the pictures that way.

Those would all be awesome. Pay attention to the details I give in the start of this thread above.

I'd love to help but I tossed away my box manual for the system about 15 years ago :-(
I use a sega genny controller now that my old master system controllers have died... and both my light guns don't work lol.
good luck with the database

Added a bunch more to the hardware database. Check them out: www.smstributes.co.uk/allhardware.aspQuestion, I am trying to see how best to organize the Master System II variations. You can see how I've been doing it thus far, but you have the further complication that some models were released in other countries with country-specific language changes to the box. Should these be separate entries or just variations in the same listing? I'd like to know before I add them because there are several different SMSII Sonic/Alex Kidd variations that are pretty much down to just a simple sticker.

Well, I decided on this. If there are significant differences in the boxes, I will make a separate listing. For example, the German version of the Master System has different writing on the box instead of just a simple sticker, so it's listed separately, whereas the French SMSII Alex Kidd/Sonic combo is just a sticker, so it's merely mentioned and pictured in the main listing. This should keep things as organized as possible.

Here is a look at a brand new Sega Master System, so you can see just what it was like to open the box back in 1987! Sorry, I didn't follow the format when resizing these photos, but I really just wanted to share my little find with everyone. Feel free to use these pictures on your site as you see fit! Attachments:

The goods. Sorry, but I refuse to open anything further than this. I really want this system to remain untouched by human hands, so this is as far as it goes! Attachments:

A close-up of the packing. It's very rare to find one of these that have never even been lifted out of the styrofoam, so this is exactly as it left the factory. Attachments:

Notice the lack of a cutout in the styrofoam for the Hang On/Safari Hunt cart. This means this is a model that has the game built in. I never understood this since the front of the box clearly shows the cart and the top flap states "The Sega Master System comes with the Combo Cartridge Hang On/Safari Hunt". *Edit - I'd like to point out a possible error, but I don't want to jump to conclusions. I don't think the system shown here: www.smstributes.co.uk/gethwinfo.asp?hardwareid=75 is the model with Hang On/Safari Hunt built in. Notice the box shows the old style controllers with the cord coming from the side and has a carrying handle at the top. Also notice that the styrofoam has a cutout for the Hang On/Safari Hunt cartridge. I used to own this exact model. It's an earlier model (1986?) that had the snail maze game built in and Hang On/Safari Hunt as a pack in cartridge. The pictures I show here are the model with Hang On/Safari Hunt built in.
