Cool it was free with the cornflakes, is the one you got working barney ?? I'm tempted to take it apart and try replace its battery. It works but only just, you can barely hear it. As far as I remember it's a sealed unit, it might not be easy to get it open without destroying it.

Sometimes it pays off to make people offers for prices even if they haven't enabled that explicitly.

Sometimes it pays off to make people offers for prices even if they haven't enabled that explicitly. I do that all the time. Worst they can say is no, or not respond.

I found Speedball 2! I used to play the hell out of this on the Amiga 500 with a Genesis controller. It was punishingly difficult, but eventually I got better and could see the true depth of the game. Obviously the SMS version has had some compromises in color palette and animation, but the Bitmap Brothers style scales down rather well. And I'm really happy to see that the game retains all the deep team management features - training and trading players, playing through tournaments or a season. It's great.
I also got Super Smash TV. The SMS can't push around as many sprites as the arcade version, of course, but I think this is a good port considering the system's capabilities. The gameplay remains quite brisk and I appreciate the thought that went into providing various control schemes, although the lack of a two controller option is a head scratcher. Overall, though, I think it's great that this game is part of the SMS library and I would have been so excited to see it if it had been released in the States.

I really like it because the SMS's limitations make the game fair. The arcade game is just a credit eater, it's just designed to kill you as quickly as possible. As a result, I find it much more enjoyable - still a challenge but less frustrating! I also prefer the option to fix firing direction over traditional twin stick controls - always found it easier to hold and release a button than independently handle two arcade sticks!

That's a good point. Another coin-op that I feel is egregiously unfair, almost offensively cheap in its grabby ways of parting players from their quarters, is Time Soldiers. But the SMS version is really cool - still challenging, but more fair.

Managed to pick up another few games for the collection along with the action replay and a controller, It's just a standard controller but has had a small pause button fitted, found it really useful when playing alex kidd to quickly access items.

Pause button on controller is very useful. I wonder if there's any third party production controller.

It requires a mod to the console to match.
