Erm... I don't know if it fits in here, but I didn't want to create a new thread just for it. I always thought everybody already knew about it (maybe previously discussed at SMS Power!, I don't know) but wouldn't care much, but I'll say it anyway: there are some unused sound tracks in some games' ROMs. For example, there's a track on Alex Kidd in Shinobi World contained on the Shinobi ROM, although it was not used on the game (well, it's not the exactly same track, but you can easily notice the similarity). There are other games with hidden sound tracks, as well. You can access these (and all of the other ones) tracks by PAR codes (although you have to enable and disable it right away so you can properly listen to the music). They're not cheat codes or anything similar, of course -- they're, at most, convenient codes. I manually check the ROMs for determining where is the music address (mainly because I haven't seen any database of that kind of stuff before); the main purpose is not finding hidden tracks -- it's just about knowing where to trigger for listening to your favorite track on a certain game, so I can build a PAR code. I cannot find the code for every game I try, but I succeed at a good percentage of my tries, I guess. So, this whole story was just for asking if I could post the sound tracks' PAR codes on some games' threads, or if it would not be classified as a "valid" code (since the main purpose of the section seems to be giving cheats and hints).

Hell no, that sounds awesome! Anything that can tap into the game in some way using the PAR is fine, as long as it does something noticeable, post away. You may want to mark them off as such, but it may not be necessary since, when I get the chance, I'll add the slew I still have to do here and just keep updating them when you find more.

Heheh... this just couldn't be elsewhere... It was not possible that SMS Power! wouldn't have something like this... check this out. It seems I just didn't search well enough. It's a good database of these "music addresses" I was talking about. And it kind of explain my previous big post, too (at least I'm not wrong . Well, the best I can do is to "adjust" that information so it's presented in PAR codes format. That is, if you think it would be necessary/good to be added in here, Stan, even now knowing that SMS Power! has a good stock of them... And I'm not playing the lazy here -- just say "yes" and I'll do it for sure.

They won't mind and I can't say I can read what the hell's going on there. This is my next big project, by the way, as I'm finishing up the interview. I want to get all your cheats into the database finally.

Heh, alright... Well, then I'm going to put them here in PAR format, just as I've been doing so far with the other codes. And since you're planning on adding those previous codes, I'll add the other ones I still haven't added (another bunch of them, I should say)...

Out of interest do the PAR codes work on all of the games (ie Euro, Brazilian, American) and do the Tec Toy exclusives have any PAR codes (not that I have the games to use them on).

Yeah, the PAR codes will work on games from any region. Tec Toy exclusive ones also have PAR codes, although the PAR itself was never released around here. The hacks have the same codes as the original games (TV Colosso/Asterix, Mônica/respective Wonder Boy, etc).

Well, I talked to Maxim over SMS Power! and he said it's alright to use those music codes from their list in here, but he asked about maybe putting a link to the original source (the thread), if possible. How should we do that -- leave a clear link in here, put it on a sticky...?

Ok, here's my moan for the day. No offence whatsoever to anybody who posts these - but personally (and I'm sure I'm not alone) I like to check the last 10 posts when I'm up in the morning to see what I might have missed on the boards since I went to bed. What I don't want to see is 10 PAR codes meaning I have to trawl through each thread to see stuff. Maybe there should be a rule like you can only post 'x' amount a day of these or something.... Maybe it's just me, but I find it annoying.

Heh... Curiously enough, that was the very first thing I've done after submitting these codes -- checking that link (and only because I saw that User of Illusion was having his birthday today, and the link was just above his name). I don't use that function, but I did remember someone talking about it some time ago (maybe it was you indeed). Then I saw the last ten posts (maybe more) were mine on this section, but it was too late to fix anything. So, if it's that annoying, I'm up for a way to get around this issue, too.

I will simply add the link within the code part of the game entry.

Phew! What a beast job, all added and corrected! I decided to arrange the codes based on name instead of code because it makes more sense that way.

Why aren't they all in alphabetical order? A-Z?
