Well, my grandfather bought a SMS for my brother and myself when it first came out many years ago. I started playing on it when I was 3 (almost 4). I remember playing space harrier and double dragon a lot back then. It wasn't too long ago I just rediscovered the magic of the SMS (not to mention Atari as well). The SMS holds much sentimental value to me, since I was very close to my grandfather, and he passed away some years ago. It is one of the few things he had bought for me that I can still find/ still works today. It's a great system and I have about 38 games and all the acessories on top of all my other systems and all the other video games and acessories I own; I am confident in saying that the SMS is hands down the best for me.
Keep it alive everyone and godbless

I got the SMS II in 1991 complete with Alex Kidd in Miracle World built in. I loved my SMS and played it so much that the directional control on my pad broke off.
I had over 20 games including Alien 3, Alien Syndrome, AKIMW, Alien Syndrome, Castle of Illusion, Cyber Shinobi Golden Axe, Golden Axe Warrior, Krustys Funhouse, Lucky Dime Caper, Mercs, Micheal Jacksons Moonwalker, Mortal Kombat, Operation Wolf, Pacmania, Rescue Mission, Shadow Dancer, Sonic 2, Sonic Chaos, Time Soldiers & The Terminator.
I sold my SMS at a car boot sale many years ago and I even chucked out all my old Sega Power magazines.
By 1994 the SMS was almost obsolete in the UK and more advanced consoles were available.
In 1994 I got a SNES.
I sold my SMS at a car boot sale and I even chucked out all my old Sega Power magazines around about 1995/1996.
By 1998 I had lost a lot of my interest in video games because I was more interested in football.
The one day in the summer of 2002 I was bored and had a desire to play Golden Axe Warrior again. That's when i discovered SMS emulation (I did know before hand that video games were emulated). ii found a few roms and an emulator and I got hooked and have been ever since.

My name is Paul and I am from New Jersey, USA.
The SMS was my second console, I had an Atari 2600 before that.
I got the system when in 1986 when i was 3 years old(im 20 now). The first game i remember playing was F-16 Fighting Falcon, and i remember the game being so hard i was annoyed with SMS. Sports Pad Football and Great Ice Hockey were next after F-16, and the sports pad is an adventure in itself, so i completely gave up on SMS.
I then got a nintendo and was pretty happy with that. sometime after i got bored with the NES, i went back to SMS for a while until Genesis came out. It wasn't until recently, maybe 2 years ago, that i found this site(it was the green site then) and fell in love with the system again.
Ever since, i have been playing SMS and am always looking for games to trade or to buy on ebay. I will take a picture of my games one of these days and post it, and if it wasnt for carelessness as a child, my system would have been in better shape along with my games.
I have about 70 games as of now, nowhere near what anyone else who is a member on this site has...I have some catching up to do. I would have more but some games were "misplaced" years ago and seem to have vanished somewhere in the walls of my house...go figure.
Well thats my story, and also I am having problems becoming a member to this site. I register, get a password and its fine. once i log out or come back to the site, it says there is an error. it doesnt seem too complicated to sign up, but maybe im doing something wrong. Little Help??

Hi just to say great site shinobiman, ive been visitng for about a year but neer posted anything before. the new intro on the root is excellent. Heres a wee bit about me (i wrote this for my website) My infatuation with the Sega Master System first started on the Christmas of 1988, my mum & dad got me a Sega Master System with Hang-on/Astro warrior cartridge, Space harrier, Choplifter and the amazingly my favourite game to this day, Shinobi. It was a joint present between my sister and me; we had a great Christmas that year. At my birthday in 1989 I got Alien Syndrome, which I found to be very difficult! Still to this day I haven't finished the game! My sister got lord of the Sword for her birthday, in the coming months me and my dad played it for hours writing down things people had said in game, and trying to finish it, I wasn't to finish to for another 2 years, and even when I did I found myself confused that I never completed the third and final task (destroy the statue) but were somehow able to finish the game! The year after that my sister was a little bored with the Master System and it became mine, for Christmas in 1989 I got Transbot(on card), My hero, Global defence, Secret commando (Rambo to you folk from the USA), Rescue mission and the Sega Light Phaser with Marksman Shooting/Trap Shooting/ Safari Hunt! Over the years I kept buying more and more games, I built up quite a collection, even when the Sega Mega Drive was out, still I kept playing the Master System. Eventually I did get a Mega Drive(with Master System converter), and then after a while the Sega Saturn and Playstation came along, i wanted one so bad i sold my entire Master system/Mega drive collection, then bought a Playstation, which i was to regret later.A few years passed and by then i had a Playstation 2, it wasnt until i started looking at sms websites and downloading roms in 2000 that i refound my love for the Master System, i visited alot of fan sites and my heart broke, i had sold my master system!! and then i decided to try and get it back, its been tough so far as games seem to be more scarce than ever, especially alot of the older titles that i had when the system first came out, im still missing a few important gems, but my collection is mostly recoverd. Im now 22 years old and still playing the Master System to this day, albeit less frequently, but that's what growing up is all about isn't it? My girlfriend doesn't particularly like the fact that I'm obsessed with an old games console that came out in the 80's but she doesnt mind anyway, probably because I'm still just a big kid! phew thats that over with. hiya guys

This is probably the best SMS site around the web. Is good to know that this underrated system still has its fans. I found this site searching for SMS in Google, and I visit it sometimes (about every week).
I didn´t had a SMS when I was a child, I had a Nes, like you, Shinobiman (although here in Spain the SMS was more popular than the Nes), but I played it at some of my friends house. In fact, I got my first SMS in 1999 when a friend gave me his SMS.Since that, I´ve been collecting games for it and enjoying all of the games (or most of them) and specially Wonder Boy 3, Lemmings, Sonic 1 and 2 and R-Type.I had a moderated interest on collecting, bu then I discovered the emulation and I´ve been picking up games all this summer (about 35 from Juny to November, the latest ones today)and now I have about 50. I´ll keep collecting games for it because I want to show some day to my children how great were the games in their golden age.

Hi, I'm Ben in San Jose, CA. I'm 14 years old, and I also have a surprisingly huge classic video game collection for someone my age. Anyway, I never grew up with the SMS when I was around 4-7 years old, but I DID have a Game Gear. I used to play Sonic alot on it (and still do). My SMS experince started in 1997, when I found my dad's Master Gear Converter and 3 games: Global Defense, Missile Defense 3-D, and Zillion (yay). I was curious to what system these games went to, so I looked in their manuals and learned a bit about the SMS there. Eventually around summer 2001, I lost the Master Gear Converter and I now wanted a real SMS to replace it. So on August 26, 2001, I won an eBay auction for a model 1 SMS,a Light Phaser, 1 controller, 2 Control Sticks, and these games: Space Harrier, After Burner, Rambo, Choplifter, and Hang-On/Safari Hunt. It was practically love at first sight, and I began to collect more. But around Feb. 2002, I stopped collecting SMS, and I now have 14 games. I've been kinda neglecting my SMS because I'm currently focusing on my Atari collection. But now, I'm hunting for games on eBay, so that might change very soon!

Howdy, folks! I'm James and I'm in the UK (Newcastle). Formative Master System experiences were playing on my cousins and friends machines (I was an Amiga kid), but the SMS was one of the first machines I picked up when I got into retro/classic/whatever gaming around '97 and I've been colecting in sporadic on/off intervals ever since. I'm currently very much in an 'on' interval, and at the latest count have 193 titles. I'm pursuing a complete Euro set, and have another 90 or so titles to go. Wish me luck! Favourite games include Fantasy Zone, Rampart, Power Strike, Speedball 2 and Columns. I recognise a few faces from Digital Press, but it's nice to see an SMS-exclusive community aswell

Hello my name is Steve and I'm an SMS-aholic. Am kinda in a rush now and so haven't really got time to tell you all my story in an exciting way just yet, but I just wanted to be polite and say HELLO to you all. Been 'lurking' for months really on and off and now it's all swanky and user-friendly on here, I'll be on more regularly. So hello to everyone and look forwarding to catching up soon. Steve.

hi, i´m pedro, a SMS fanatic from Portugal. I bought the Master System in 1992 and since then the admiration for this spectacular games console has been growing. I have 192 different games and my goal is to have them all (Pokemon style!!!). I have several game consoles, but the SMS is my favorite. I hope this site can extend is importance in the videogame comunity because it´s extremely well done (Kudos shinobiman!!). Because i live in europe, almost my entire colection is made of games that never reached the USA, so if any of you guys have any kind of question regarding European releases, be free to ask. Best regards, 19!!!

Hi, I'm Melanie and from Munich, Germany I've got a Master System for Christmas 1990 and i just loved it. Originaly i wanted a Game Boy or an NES (Blame me). But instead i've got that Black Box. I played so much with it, that my Friends called me crazy. I Remember playing every day wonderboy in monsterland and every time i died on the way to the final dragon. In 1993 i got a Mega Drive, and as dumb as i was, i sold my master system with all the games (around 40). Over the Years i bought more Games and Consoles (Playstation, Saturn & Dreamcast) and in 2002 i discovered eBay (What a wonderful place to waste money ). And i started buying all i can get, at the moment i have 11 systems and something around 400 games (Remember my Friends? The call me now even more crazier). But i still remember and love that black box that started it all so at the moment i trying to get a Master System with all the games that i played when i was younger.

My name is Erik De Maeyer, I live in Belgium, been collecting for a long time,'bout 8 years, sms only.
So I'm a pure sms collector, I truly hate nintendo stuff as an sms collector should ;D
Collection is about 250+ unique games.
I'm very proud of my 8 NEW Tectoy games, SFII, MK3, etc .
Belgium is a treasure island when it comes to older systems, the average sms game costs around 2€, that's 1.7$, and I've found all rare games easily in the shops here.
see you later
