I've seen this listed for quite an expensive price on ebay recently, certainly more expensive than the RRP. Is it out of print or are people just trying it on? A few people on Twitter don't have very much nice to say about this guy, seems to be allegations that the content may be taken from elsewhere. Probably nothing mind you. It's difficult to get original content for a system this old now, so probably just a case of sour plumbs. Be sure to give us you're verdict on it.

Funnily enough I posted this up on Instagram and I got the same negative reaction about the author, apparently he’s a massive troll or something. It makes me glad that apart from Instagram I have no social media, just seems to be a cesspool full of drama. As for the book itself, I bought it from Amazon and you can also get a paperback copy for £10.

It was £16 just there on Amazon, but I just ordered a copy anyway. Guess it will go nicely with the other dusty gaming books on there. 😁
Seems like there is soo much money in retro these days, kinda feeling like we missed a trick all those years back with the amount of knowledge that's been shared on this forum over the years! 🤔

I think it looks like a nice book , with lots of interesting reading stuff and pictures 👍
I’m all in tears over my own compendium book disappeared somewhere in the mail system between uk and dk post office 👎😭 because the postman never leaves a message that it arrives in a box, and then they send it back in the system.

Hmm looks like a nice book and I'm tempted to pick it up at some point. Does anyone have any solid information on what the author is supposed to have done? Don't want to support plagiarism or something like that.

Well, I got mine today too and to be honest I can see some problems with the way it's laid out. Homebrew, SG1000 games are all mixed in with SMS games, no mention of this. It's all portrayed like they are SMS games.
There's also a lot of localised titles listed, with no mention that they are released in other regions elsewhere under other names (the authoritive name in some cases) for example "Vampire Master of Darkness" is listed under V but "Master of Darkness" isn't under M.
It looks to me like someone downloaded a rom pack from a torrent site and then wrote a short passage on each game. And that's the tip of the iceberg tbh.
Physically, it's a nice enough presentation, but there are some blurry text on some pages and the paper it's printed on is a bit thin and cheap feeling.
So, summary I guess is that it's nice to get more SMS focused books, but this one doesn't really add anything new. At £16 I'd say that if you don't own any SMS books, your money is better spent towards Bitmap Book's Visual Compendium.
I'll have a good proper read through tonight, but just wanted to put my initial thoughts down just now. Shame really, a missed opportunity, and the killer is that I know various people here could make something much better.

Thanks for the review Sinistral. I think I'll save my money (couldn't even see it on Amazon anyway). I did actually consider putting something together a few years back using stuff I had done for my YouTube channel. Not sure what ever happened to that!

Along with several links with information about him. I had never heard of him before. He has wrote many books like this with lots of copy/ pasting going on. I read enough to cancel my Amazon order. Disappointing as at first glance this looked exciting from a Master System fan perspective, it’s not often we get newly published print dedicated to our favourite subject.

Well that’s a bit disappointing, if I knew that I probably wouldn’t have bought it. Just a shame as like you say there’s hardly ever new material for the SMS

The more I read of it, the more I want to return it. It's just bad. Really bad!
As someone that makes frequent spelling and grammatical mistakes, even I'm actually picking up on so many obvious errors that could have been avoided by using a spell checker.
There's also games that are named incorrectly, e.g. "Super Kick Off" is listed as just "Kick Off" then be waffles on about an Atari ST game instead of the SMS version.
It looks like something a 13 year old slapped together in a night.
