Hi. New to this site, so apologies if this is in the wrong section etc.
I'm trying to find the name of an old game I played when I was maybe 10-11 years old. It was on the master system 2, and I am going to do my absolute best to describe the one level I remember in the hope someone here knows it and can get rid of this 20 year old itch I've had for trying to remember the name.
It's a platform game I believe, and the bit I remember was you were a little character, and you was flying on a dragon type creature that was flying from the left of the screen to the right. When you was on this creature you controlled it up, down, left and right and you could fire 'stuff' from its head/mouth. It was quite a fast paced level and I'm sure the majority of the level you only really saw the dragons/creature head and neck to the left of the screen as you moved up and down to either dodge or fire at things.
I'm certain each level was different and you may of used different creatures or vehicles, but that may also not be true, my memory is very hazy.
I also kind of want to say the size of the character that you was throughout the game would be about the same size on the screen as Alex the kidd.
I'm really not sure how else to describe it, if I get no joy I may be tempted to try and draw what I remember but hoping I don't have to do that.
Thanks in advance
Ps. Absolutely loved my MS2 back in the day, Alex the kidd in miracle world was amazing!
Steve

Unfortunately not. Pretty similar vibe though! The dragon/creature was much bigger and the little character was kinda standing on its neck. It was only for that level though I think.
Thank you anyway!

It's so similar to dragon breed, I almost tried to convince myself it was that, but it's not. Same style of game, size of main character and dragon are the same.
Having spent the weekend thinking about this I now can't be 100% it was on the MS2. I also had the mega drive and saturn slightly after the MS2 before going into N64 territory.
Would you be able to perhaps recommend a good Sega forum to post the query on?
Thanks again for your help!

Could this be Wonderboy The Dragon's Trap? You do become a dragon. www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBdu19yBNkQYou are posting on it! Here and SMSPower are the two best places to go IMO.

No, it's not wonderboy. That was my first thought, but that would be too easy.
The more I'm racking my brain over this, I seem to remember ever so slightly more.
You could do the level as a 2 player, so 2 different coloured characters riding 2 different coloured dragons/creatures and it gets pretty mad the further along you get. Was very similar to dragon breed in the way it all played, just not that.
I'm so frustrated by this it's unhealthy!
Grateful for everybody's input, I'm sure we'll get there.

YES YES YES
ITS WONDERBOY MONSTER LAIR! YOU ABSOLUTE LEGEND!!!!!
That was the only one I didn't look into because it wasn't on MS2, but that's the one.
I seem to of maybe been crossing 2 or 3 different games in my head, but that's the one for sure. Its the level with the giant fish and shooting the rings that just flicked the switch in my brain.
Thank you so much for your help!

Honestly thank you so much.
This has been going on for roughly 10-15 years now, it pops into my mind every now and then, I can't find it, and forget about it for another few months.
I'm now super tempted to get an MS2 and Mega Drive and relive some youth!!

Buying old game has become super expensive in recent years. Maybe one of the several Mega Drive emulation consoles will fulfill your needs.

Nice work desperado! I know how frustrating it can be to try and remember the name of some beloved game from childhood. It's good we have a place like this with people like you to help out.

I can not echo that sentiment any harder. I'm still telling people about it now, the amount of time this bugged me and I'm now bidding on an old MS2 with a games bundle and a Mega Drive with a seriously big games bundle as well. Man cave will be pleased!
