Hello guys! Have you listened about the new retro console that will be release?? www.analogue.co/Mega SG It's not a Mini console like "NES Classic Mini" or "SNES Classic Mini", or the various "ATGames consoles" that use roms.. This is a reproduction of the original hardware of Sega Mega Drive! And, unbelievable, you can use Master System cartridges (with tha included adaptator!) It's the second retro console that permit to use SMS games! The first one was "Hyperkin RetroN 5", but you had to buy a separate adapter, and that console dumped the cartridges and you used games like rom! Infact that console was based on Android software! Well, finally we can have a retro console that gives more consideration to our beloved SMS! :-)

I think this is great - I'm all for ways to play original games on newer TVs.

I ordered the NES and Mega Drive ones. I'm a bit bummed they aren't "full wood" like their previous Neo Geo (which is just awesome and it always draws attention ) but the quality is hopefully just as good (and you can't go wrong with 8bitdo gamepads)

I’ve preordered it! I’ve been waiting years for something like this. It sounds perfect. Price is high but I hear their products are always top quality. It will be great on my 1080p projector too. Really looking forward to it!

I have been considering this, also considering the Retron 5, is there any major benefits to this compared to the retron 5 ? Looking solely at the sites I'm more sold on the retron 5.

Mega SG is hardware emulation - new chips trying to act exactly like the old ones, but then emitting the result to HDMI and avoiding any analogue steps in the chain so everything looks perfect. The Retron is a software emulator, it's really no different to any emulator you can run on a computer. For some people this is an important distinction.

The retron 5 has some quality issues from what I've seen, failing cartridge ports and such. It was enough to put me off getting one.

Thanks for input on that, all i had heard negative wise about it was stiff cart slots. Probably be as well off using a pi in that case until I have the pennies for the Mega SG

I stuck retroarch on the mini consoles, intend to use the NES mini for 8 bit and MAME and the SNES mini for 16bit, PS1 etc (if it runs OK havent tested it yet). I have no doubt N64 will run like crap. Much cheaper option than the retron etc.
If I had the spare cash though the Mega SG would be awesome. Does it work OK with the Everdrive?

Does it work OK with the Everdrive? The Super Nt seems to run the SD 2 SNES fine at least so I would hope the Mega Sg will handle the everdrive too
