I thought I read on the third update, Sam was going to do the slipcase regardless of the 150,000 target.
Here's hoping 🤞

Yeah he basically said he will make it happen even if the goal isn't hit. Fingers crossed since they really do add to the overall quality of the production.

I backed it! My only concern is that Mark Cerny is writing the intro. I like Mark Cerny but I think some of the things he's said about the Master System in the past have been off-base, or at least oversimplifications. Specifically he's expressed the opinion that most of the early software for the SMS was shovelware, intended to create a big library of games without regard to quality. I think the truth is that there are a lot more high quality games than poor ones. Many of the early games seem quite simple at first but reveal a good amount of depth... well, I don't really need to convince this crowd of that. I understand that he has his own perspective as an insider but I just don't like the way he's framed those discussions in the past.

I've you haven't already, make sure you back this guys! There's only 7 hours left to get yourself this amazing book.
There's also the good news that a slipcase will definitely be included.

Successfully funded! And it cleared quite a few stretch goals, adding the slipcase, more pages, and more gatefold spreads.

With pretty much every pledger, almost three thousand of them, qualifying for their name in the book I'm wondering if there will be any room for the games.

Maybe ask Sam dyer who's publishing it.
When I got the summary for the money funded, quite a few people pulled out of their pledges... Maybe it's possible.

The book will be available to purchase directly from the Bitmap Books website closer to the release. Still worth contacting Sam though as you may be able to get a pre-order.

Backers of this book should now have received a PDF version. It's brilliant! I've read about quarter so far. I can't wait to receive the physical version. It's really great to see my name in there too.. at the front as an acknowlegment for writing a review for Putt & Putter, again on the review itself, again for being a backer and also my Instagram name ( Segacollect ) for access to my collection for being photographed. I'm not sure how many of the physical hardware and software photos are from my collection but I think nearly all of them. I also note ian and Bock both acknowledged at the front. I think also psychofox for a review.

I've been scanning through the pdf today - I'll save a more thorough reading for when I receive the physical book. But overall I think it's beautiful and the interviews have some interesting information that I didn't previously know. Also, something about seeing the screenshots enlarged to the full page size gives me a similar feeling of excitement to my original experience of playing these games for the first time.

I saw the notes on the PDF coming out - I'll wait for the actual thing to arrive though.

I haven't received the PDF yet, but I'm not too fussed as long as I'm not forgotten when it comes to the physical book.
