Hi everyone so basically a long story short my father passed away around 24 years ago now but he was big into the sega master system and mega drive at that time, Today i came across the old console and boxes and boxes of games that have been in storage for 24 years. After looking through them there was 1 sealed game i guess he never got to play which is this Power Strike 2. All the other 100+ games are in the cases but no manuals this was the only sealed one. Im half tempted to open it and play it because im sure it was something he planned to do but i'm curious of the price after a little research today ive seen its kinda rare but a version bought by someone who never opened it and got to play it thats been sat all boxed up in storage for close to 25 years has to be worth slightly more. Any help would be grateful ,

Hi mate what kind of seal does it have?
Sega sticker over the box opening, Shrink wrap, or Blister pack

Doesn't look shrink wrapped. So it's hard to tell if the sticker wasn't put back on.

its not shrink wrapped. Im not trying to sell any of the games from his collection to anyone it was more for my curiosity on asking what it was worth. I personally know the game is unopened and has never been used anyone else has the right to feel skeptical about that and i understand that they would feel that way. My mother confirms and says she remembers him purchasing the game and it being left in the kitchen, he ran his own business and was on call all hours but he didnt return that night because of tragic accident which took his life and thus the game has been as it was since that day. To cover all bases its totally posdsible he opened it while on his way home who knows but 100% it has never been played and im still adamant itsa unopened but anyway back to my question what would it be worth

Personally I've opened all the sealed games I have bought over the years so value doesn't really change IMO. (Of course blister packs would be something different...) I wouldn't pay any more for it because it may or may not be sealed. I think most have sold in the $200-$300 range over the last few years.

Looks like a brew mark and a black mark at the bottom on the back of power strike 2, so i would't say it was new.
Would be worth between £150 - £200

shame about the damage to the back cover as it will detract from the interest and value . It's best to open it and demonstrate the cartridge and manual in mint condition as this should help it sell for more .

Okay so i bit the bullet and carefully removed the sega sticker as i was curious:- ibb.co/hJ2mXJEverything looked pristine. so i carefully removed the contents except the cartridge. ibb.co/nzp0sJThe paper and inside case had a faint new smell to it. so i inspected the cartridge closer. ibb.co/hZKdeyDoesnt appear to have a single stratch on it from use. will let you guys be your own judge thank you for knowledge and time replying to my questions. -- Daniel

Curious why you ask about value if you have no intention of selling...? Curious what exactly a "new smell" smells like 😝 And also curious where you are? The epilepsy warning was pretty common in France and Belgium, not sure if it was included with games purchased in other countries. Good luck finding your answers!

I was curious about the value of it because it "was" unopened and has never been played, i think thats a fair enough thing to wonder. As for the smell come on you know exactly what im talking about you never opened a brand new manual and had a smell lol. Im from Wales UK so it was bought in the UK.

That's weird, never seen a separate epilepsy warning in an SMS game. I think the manuals all include one anyway. Pretty sure I've had some SNES games with them though, Nintendo love their health warnings (probably because they routinely design things which really need them)!
Shame about the cover damage but shouldn't detract too much in an auction. It's a sought after game, a little bit of rarity and a whole lot of being excellent.
I've only known a couple of other people who enjoy a good huff of a new booklet. It's the most important part of opening something new that has a booklet - the smell must be judged.

Great to see a rare game like this in such nice shape , I have maybe a dozen games that I picked up mint with those epilepsy warnings so their not that uncommon , Only downside is that stain on the cover but someone who already has the game could swap the cover and have a totally mint Power Strike II
