I will be bringing my 14" portable tv as usual. I have an old Commodore monitor which still works I think too. If someone messages me Friday night I can bring both if required. I will bring a MS 1 and a couple of pads. My Everdrive is a bit temperamental so if someone could bring theirs instead it would be appreciated.
Flatapex if you're organising the tournament hope you'd consider doing Micromachines knockout or even a boxing game like Heavyweight Champ...

Tournament game ideas: micro machines, each person plays 3 head to heads, a point for every head to head won. when everyone has done 3 head to heads we work out the points total.
parlour games 'bullseye' challenge- each person gets 6 darts, can you get 101 or more? points for total score
sensible soccer 'how quick can you score?' play a game with the computer, stopwatch times how quick you can score your first goal.
olympic gold- hammer throw. 3 throws each. best distance for each person goes into the leaderboard.
leaderboard gets adapted so if for example we have 8 attendees then winner of each round gets 8 points, 2nd place 7 etc.
we would need a stopwatch and a randomiser, if we have an odd number we can add a wildcard to micro machines where if you draw the wildcard as the opponent you get a point without needing to play.
if that sounds good I will make the spreadsheet tomorrow night

I think golf will take too long...I'd do a speed run on something like The Smurfs something you can do quickly.
Darts is tricky. How about a penalty shoot out on World Soccer?
Olympic Gold - Hammer Throw or 100m's which is an easy event
I still think boxing would be good fun too

I think rupert was looking into organising this. We were considering high score games, as they’re quicker and easier to manage than head-to-head games. There’s been some good ideas suggested though, so I’m sure we’ll figure out something between us all.

Mine was a bit temperamental but I copied the roms onto a new SD card and it's fine now.

Mine needs soldering - well part where the SD card goes in as come away a bit, it works if you hold it in place lol!!
It would be nice to have some input into what games we play, but it should be good none the less
There are a lot of great games we've never played at the meet ups so it would be good to do 'new stuff' as well as old favourites...
I think it would be good if people took it turns every year to organise it. I know they are a lot of willing people out there.

Phil is right there are loads of great games out there and I bet there are some that none of us have played either for years or ever (one of my favourite parts of the meet is discovering a game I have never played that is great fun)
Plus with the everdrives we have the sg1000 library and for those that have got their heads round patching, the gg to ms library courtesy of our SMS power friends.
However we decide the games we are spoilt for choice

I had a great time as usual, thanks to everyone for coming. And congratulations to Phil on winning the competition and beating me in an epic final. Hopefully rupert can post the results and the group photo. The venue was great as usual, it's just a shame we didn't have an extra TV.

Sorry I couldn't make it, I like to kid myself that I might have had a chance to win the trophy again. Maybe next year, when we're all much more organised and I can get around to making a new competition cart...

Had a really good day on Saturday, can't believe we were there for 7 hours! Thanks again to ian for a lift there and it was a pleasure showing you my collection (the first Master System fan to actually visit). As pointed out it was a shame we didn't have a 3rd TV as it meant there were always 2 people not able to play at any one time. I think for the next meet up we really need to try and make sure there is one set up per 2 attendees if possible. The venue had changed quite a bit since our last visit 2 years ago but it was perfect for our little gathering, I think the space we had could have been fine for up to 10-12 people with 4-5 set ups on the go. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the food and drink were excellent in my opinion, I had a go at arranging the tournament this year. I kept in a couple of the sega8bit meet up favourites (Putt & Putter and Micro Machines) and attempted to try some new things with the rest. I also made it a knock out competition which sped things up a bit but did mean some of the early knock outs didn't get to join in on the later stages. Perhaps next time it should be a mixture of a few games everyone plays to work out an average overall score to see who progresses to later stages (we have a whole year to think about it anyway!). Here are the 2018 tournament results! Round 1 Putt & Putter - Lowest score on first 6 holes Kaleb - +8 (out) Andy- +7 Kev- +4 Ian- +3 James- +2 Phil- 0 Round 2Air Rescue - High score Andy- 2800 (out) Kev- 23200 James- 36200 Phil- 55800 Ian- 99000 Round 3Sonic Chaos - level 1 Speed run Kev- 21 (out) James- 20 sec Phil- 20 sec Ian- 19 sec Round 4Castle of Illusion - practice round 3 levels - High score James - 5250 (out - 3rd) Phil - 5340 Ian - 5390 FinalMicro Machines - head to head on 7 track tournament Ian - 2nd Phil - winner It was a very close call and came down to the final race (tanks) to decide the winner. Here are the photos I managed to get. Other than the group photo the rest are not the best but it was difficult due to the lighting and bright screens..

Love seeing some Quartet! Congrats on keeping the tradition alive guys. It's a great co-op game. We managed to get to level 4, which I think is pretty good going!
