My first post was only in 2007 (I've been around a lot longer but didn't post here for a long time), is quite rude and includes the word "wank". Not my greatest moment. My early SMS Power posts are a bit lame too.

Its crazy how fast time has gone, it seemed like only a few years ago when you started messaging me James! I've been on here 12 years but I was visiting long before that when I wasn't a member of any forums. I remember this site and smspower from probably near enough the very start of them, visiting them on a 33k dialup modem!
I can't seem to find my first post, so no idea if it was actually interesting or not :-)

Did you get your GG working? Might just need the power board replacing as well as the caps - there's a guy who does this, search for GearForGames. Great service and lovely to see a bright and loud Game Gear again.

Yeah but he still looks like the guy from Aqua (you guys have to remember the Barbie girl song). 😜 Totally (and why do i even remember that shitty song?) My first post here was about some cables being compatible between the Mega Drive and Master System, MD2 in particular since i had nothing better at the time. Dec 30, 2003 at 2:13am...time really flies Wasn't the first board, i remember Sinistral's Forum that came 2002/2003 before this one, right? I have some faint memory of a topic where we changed GN'R's Welcome to the Jungle lyrics to fit the Master System. At least i'm pretty sure that happened.

In your honour, I have created a photo montage of all 9 times we've had a meet-up. Someone's been drinking from the fountain of youth, you haven't aged a bloody day! Yeah but he still looks like the guy from Aqua (you guys have to remember the Barbie girl song). 😜 Oh God, I wish I'd never made that comparison here all those years ago!! Sorry Rupert!!

It has now been 12 years since I joined. Not much to update you on since my first post in this thread.
The main thing is that I finally sorted out my collection room so it is a nice useable space. I have a 2 seater sofa in there and a HD projector with 110" screen.
One big change for me on the horizon is that after over 12 years working at the same company I am moving to another company in about 6 weeks. Exciting times ahead.
Hope to see a few of you next weekend at the meet up in Manchester.

Waoo it’s a awesome collection you have👍 Also great post, that is amazing to read about , how you experienced your collection past the years. I think your grey Sega displaycase is very cool, where did you get such one?

I think your grey Sega displaycase is very cool, where did you get such one? Thank you! I got the sega retail glass display cabinet off a collector on eBay 6 years ago. It was poorly listed and I made the seller a cash offer to end early. I paid £170.

How time flys! It’s now 16 years since I joined this forum!!
I have not been very active though but still keep checking in.
My collecting has slowed to an almost stop this past 12 months. I struggle to justify spending any money on it these days. All my spare money is going towards home improvements, bills, stuff for the family and doing things with the family. My son is 6 and my daughter is 3.
Having said all that I’m still regularly posting stuff about my Master System collection over on instagram as ‘segacollect’. Also I’m really looking forward to our next forum meet up on 20th Aug! From memory I don’t think I’ve missed one since they first started in 2008.

Time has indeed flown buddy. Don't blame you for keeping your money and spending on the important things. That said you have an absolutely awesome collection and I love seeing all the stuff on Instagram. Looking forward to meeting you next week mate 👍👍👍

How is it over 9 years since I joined?
Still got the original system, and 3 more. I don’t collect much anymore as I have less space than before. I work part of the week from home so the work space is what would be collecting space. Plus add in another renovation (finished the last one, sold it and moved into another).
The job I had when I joined has changed, been at the same place for 6 1/2 years and moved department last year. I’ve also written a book, written half of another and launched a moderately successful podcast. I still hang out on Twitter under my pen name

Yeah, 16 years since I joined too, and in the 5 years since I last posted on this thread quite a few changes, biggest of all being that although I still live in Scotland, I now work in London, so a fair bit of commuting. Still playing all of the SMS games of course, indeed my Retro 5, which I tend to use these days, is sitting about a metre from where I'm working on my laptop right now. My 8 year old loves loads of the games, which is great for the future of interest in the system!
