Let me introduce myself, I'm Russ I bought a Master System a few months ago and I enjoy it tremendously, This is the missing link for me. I've liked video games from an early age my family had the Commador 64 AND the Atari (I think it was the 2600) My brother's and I liked the games, they weren't as cool as our cousin's NES by a long shot but we still had fun (of course) Then, for Christmas in 1991 our parents bought us a Sega Genesis! With Sonic the Hedgehog! I couldn't believe it! Such happy memories, we played that thing for a solid decade I think and it still works. The point of my story is I never owned an 8 bit system and this thing is great, I've been buying games online and at my local game store, Golden Axe is actually very similar to the Genesis version, also Altered Beast but I think my favorite so far is Astro Warrior, best eight bit shooter I've ever played, then again I'm just getting started!

Welcome to the forum! There is a game club running which you might be interested in, a member chooses a game every month for the rest of the forum members to try. It's a good way of expanding your collection and trying a game you wouldn't have picked. Not sure what area your from but there will be a group meet later this year as well. Often members will also post events that are upcoming, so brilliant place to get notifications on retro games events. Won't be long before your completely addicted to collecting SMS games.

Thanks for the kind welcome everyone, I like this place already!
I was surprised how inexpensive most the master system games are, they're fairly easy to find online too so I've already put together a fairly sizeable collection, when I find something new that I like I tend to go a little hog wild, Here is my library starting from my most favorite to my least:
1. Astro Warrior 2. Double Dragon 3.R-Type 4.Golden Axe 5.After Burner 6.Altered Beast 7.Rampage (MUCH better than the NES version) 8.Out Run 9.Alien Syndrome 10. Time Soldiers (this one's hard) 11. Choplifter 12.Hang On 13.Global Defence 14. Aztec Adventure

Welcome. Based on the list of games you have I'm guessing you're another American...? There's not too many of us around, lol....active on the forum anyways. You have some great games to start with. I find it funny to hear the games considered inexpensive, prices are out of hand compared to 5-6 years ago IMO. I hope you enjoy the forum and site.

Yes, I'm American, born in California but I live in Texas now. I'm sure you're right about the game price going up due to the fact that reto gaming is becoming more popular, some of the Genesis games I own are surprisingly valuable now. Most of the SMS games I bought where $9 to $20 a piece, seemed reasonable

Nice. Both Jesse and soera are in Texas I believe. Bulk lots are always a good way to save some $, especially when you're first starting out. Enjoy the best 8 bit system ever!

There are pricey games too that are very worth if. Phantasy Star is my fav, that can be found $40 or so. Wonder Boy 3 is at the top of everyones list lol. Alex Kidd in Miracle World is worth a try. Also, there are Sonic games made for this, and they look great! Welcone to the forum!
