Wondering what the requirements are for a tv to work with the light phaser . I understand that modern flat screens are not suitable , but my problem is that I have a Philips crt and that also is not compatible with the light phaser . Its just like my flat screen in the living room , the screen just blinks when I pull the trigger . I think it was manufactured in 02 or 03 so maybe the later model crt's are also a problem with the light phaser . I'm on the look for a replacement and I have seen a bang & alufsen locally that I quite like but if it's not suitable for the light phaser or 3d glasses theirs no point changing . If anyone could look at this add and let me know if would work that would be great , thanks . www.gumtree.com/p/televisions-plasma-lcd-tvs/bang-olufsen-beovision-avant-32-television-video-player-combined.-crt./1198581183

The issue is probbaly the refresh rate, if its 100hz which later upmarket CRT TVs often are then traditional light guns won't work. I had a quick look and it seems that B&O TV is 100hz too. I think you'd have more luck looking for a 4:3 CRT instead of a widescreen one, as they are much less likely to be 100hz and have a better spect ratio for retro consoles too.

Cheers thanks for the info on the refresh rate , yeah I will give the B&O a miss , cool tv though , probably cost a bomb 20 years ago . I'm happy with a 4:3 but it's finding one that's the problem , they weigh the same as a baby elephant so I'm limited to local gumtree adds and even the above listing is an hour away . But something will pop up soon enough .

When I looked I saw rrp prices of 4 to 5k, a crazy amount for a TV that would be out of fashion so quickly. Have you got any charity shops nearby that sell furniture and things? I got a Sony trinitron from one near me last year. EBay is worth a look searching by distance. I'm tempted to get another CRT myself while it's still possible to buy a top of the range one cheaply.

I had the same issue with my previous TV, a huge 36' Hitachi CRT working at 100hz. Happily there was a button on the remote for lowering the hertz frequency and I could use the light phaser.

Yeah, sadly just found out my big TV won't play LP games. I assume there's absolutely no way around it right?

Yes, as far as I know there's no way on real hardware. Only emulation can give a solution. I remember using SMS Plus GX on Wii a few years ago, which supports light gun games with the Wii remote. Not the best result, but reasonably well.

You are lucky I have a Toshiba 32 inch 100hz tv that is utter useless for the sms how ever it great for 100hz light guns on the ps2 and original xbox
