Index and argos were notorious for wrong covers for new games, a spring catalogue would be compiled just after the autumn one was released

Here is another Index from winter 93 www.youtube.com/watch?v=9j6W9w_AIYwAt 08:02 he shows master system games, what caught my eye was the ultimate soccer cover. It's different to my copy, was their variants of this game? It's already hard to find without another variant. I've seen a few variants of different sms games in magazine advertisements but put this down to pre-release promotion rather than an actual released version (Maybe the final artwork for the game wasn't decided before the advertisement shoot took place.) It would be amazing to come across some of these 'promotional' covers, they'd be unique.

Sure would be cool to find something like that, their must be a dark unused storage room somewhere in the country with all kinds of retro goodies just waiting to be unearthed.

The catalogue was printed long before it came out as at launch they released hundreds of thousands of copies.
The in store catalogues were able to be updated as some products were cosmetically different, price differences etc
My mate worked at argos for a few years
