SMS leather football from World Cup 1990

As some of you know I picked up this SMS leather football a few months ago

From what I have read it is unknown what its origins are. After doing a bit of digging on the Internet I came across this video on YouTube advertising a special edition SMS1 with World Soccer packed in from 1990:

In the video I noticed this picture:

It's exactly the same as the football I picked up apart from the leather is green instead of black. The footballer in the video is Walter Zenga who was the starting Goalkeeper for the Italian side in the 1990 World Cup. I managed to find a translation for the commercial, it says:

Looks like the ball was only available as a special offer if you purchased this particular World Soccer edition of the console.

Awesome yeah barney is a top bloke!
I wonder how rare that version of the game is? On the sticker it says "GIOCO DEL CALCIO INCLUSA" which translates as "FOOTBALL INCLUDED"
I love how in the commercial they make it look like its an amazing game and your getting a great deal when it's just so terrible!
Im guessing there probably won't be many of the complete consoles around

Check out the Italian games page (found under the country release page/thread) you can see a catalog picture posted by bkk that has some info about it. I know I have seen both the game with sticker and the console before, as I often search eBay Italy for the Italian "version" games.
You have to assume that once the kids got this game/console bundle, they played the game and realized how crappy it was; then they immediately inflated the ball and went outside to play with it because playing soccer is so much more fun then the video game. I truly expect you have possibly the only one left that was not used. Awesome find dude!
Is the signature real or printed like the rest of the markings on the ball?

Yes the signature is printed on, it would be amazing if it's the only surviving one, I have no doubt that any kid that got this console would have used the ball so you might be right!
It would be interesting to see the inside packaging of the console to see if the ball actually came bundled inside rather than separate.

I've also seen the console on eBay a few times. Although I've never paid too much attention to it, I'm pretty sure the ball would have been packaged separately. A great item to have in your collection though!
