Trasbot I dismissed this game back in the day as looking a bit too basic to play but gave it a go yesterday and was immediately impressed by the playability of it. I wonder what other games I've done this with.....

I never had played Rampart (due to be a strategy game), but somebody said here it's quite nice and decided to give it a try. Well, I instantly loved it! I like the fact you must take the best decision so quickly, it's very challenging. I've been a master on this now!

The manual was more entertaining than the game. Yeah, it's written in kind of a sarcastic/humorous tone. Page 5: "Now that you're in the cockpit and hearing the roar of your engines, it may be difficult, if not impossible, to resist the temptation to take off and test your skill. Go ahead if you want. Then, when you're tired of crashing, come back and continue reading the manual." But anyway, I've observed that a lot of people who hate this game don't know how to control it, or even that it requires two controllers.

I understand why they have it but it detracts form the actual enjoyment of the game. Mind you it's my personal opinion, but I stand by it.

I can understand that. To me, it's kind of a throwback to the 2600 days, when some very ambitious games would also require the use of both controllers and/or the physical switches on the console - Space Shuttle comes to mind. The developers were straining against the limitations of the available input devices.

The Ninja - not exactly love at first sight. When I first played it, the graphics and sound seemed very dated and I kept getting killed. These days I think it's one of the best games on the system. The Ninja was the first game I got with the console (besides build-ins). I've grown really tired of After Burner, I'm now sorry I didn't trade it away instead of some I did. I don't think it was ever a real favorite of mine, but that I gave up several other games and not it shows I appreciated it more 20 years ago than I do now.

Chase HQ springs to mind. I know it isn't the most well-loved game in the Master System library and when I picked up a copy and tried it out I found it to be a bit meh. A few months later, however, I was going through my SMS collection and decided to give Chase HQ another go. I found it to be a fun little game. It's not arcade perfect, but on its own merits it's perfectly acceptable. Smooth pseudo-scaling, responsive controls and addictive gameplay combined into an enjoyable if slightly easy package. Considering some of the other awful psuedo-scaling games on the console (I'm looking at you, Galaxy Force), you can do a whole lot worse than Chase HQ.
tl;dr version: At least it's not the Commodore 64 version.
