Hi guys! I would like to ask you if we could add a new, little section the the boards - A section especially for the Mega Drive/Genesis. I know this is a forum dedicated to the Master System, but sadly sega16bit was not successful (which is a shame), and many of the board members have the MD at home as well. I get more and more into the MD world, but there are still many compatibility and technical questions open and I am looking to discuss with you all to get some answers.. and of course to a have some small talk with you about the huge games library I hope that many members like my idea and I added a little poll as well. I don´t want to open hundreds of MD threads at the Off Topic section Cheers, Gordman

The more I think about it, the more I like Marco's idea.
The mega drive was a very important system but especially to people like us as fans of its predecessor.
I have a few ideas of how it could work, I would suggest either a mega drive board or a general Sega board and maybe a non Sega gaming board?
That way off topic could be for non gaming stuff, the non SMS what have you bought recently thread could evolve into 'what have you bought recently- non gaming'
Just an idea...

I think we should keep this place as it is, on the 8-bit era only.
If we add a Mega Drive section, there may be demand for Saturn and Dreamcast too and finally a mess as most forums. I love this place because of being that specific. There are many other forums to talk about MD, or you could use the off-topic section.

I like that we have a small/close group here. Branching out may attract unwanted traffic.

I love this place because of being that specific. There are many other forums to talk about MD, or you could use the off-topic section. Except the WaterMelon boards (which I will ignore in the future), I am only registered here and on SMS Power. Okay, I am at nintendoage too, but I am not active over there. I would like to talk with my friends here about the MD. Plus, I am not very trustful to other gaming boards. The Mega Drive is very close to the Master System, many games were released on both systems, and that´s why I am looking for a little MD section. So I don´t think that anybody will ever request sections for the Saturn and/or Dreamcast..^^

I agree that the ms and md shared a lot of games, it would be useful for owners of both systems to know about these. Plus we are all Sega fans (otherwise the site would be Nintendo 8 bit)
Plus how many of us had a md growing up? Or own one now? I had one as a kid and now own 2

Thank you Andy! I have my MD since the beginning of 2012 and right now, I am really getting into it because I discovered a lot of amazing games, playing ToeJam & Earl Panic on Funkotron at the moment - A genious game. At last, we could test it for two weeks. If anything negative happens (I don´t think so), an MD section could be deleted again. I would be interested what the board staff says. In the end, sega16bit was worth a try for a reason

How about an "Other Sega" section? I don't think a MD only section would necessarily get enough action but if you blow it open to non-SMS Sega, it can cover that and more - there's been a few posts about obscure Sega-related hardware, for example.
If we do just stick to MD, it might also be worth a game of the month thread? Potential to expose people to something new - MD emulation is straightforward whereas Saturn and DC is absolutely not!

I'll just remind you the title of this place: I guess that means we should delete the Off Topic section and every post on here that isn't specifically about the SMS or its games.

Hey Nick, why the ´hate´ for the Mega Drive? I think it´s nothing dramatic if we put a Mega Drive board inside the Community section, between ´Introduce yourself´ and ´Off Topic´. But no problem, if that doesn´t work out, I will find other ways for sure The community did not accepted my Homebrew section idea some time ago so I am not really surprised that this idea won´t be really accepted as well.

First of all, I'm just expressing my opinion. As you want to add a MD section, the same way I don't and probably I'm not the only. If the Admins finally decide to proceed your suggestion I'll accept it, I can't do anything about it. tapEach forum as far as I know has a specific subject that people talk about. For this place happens to be SMS and relative 8-bit systems. Obviously it's not forbidden to talk for something else, but would be better to say it in the off-topic section. I think that's the reason we have it. I totally support the freedom of speech, but we must follow some guidelines as visitors/members of this place. @gordman Please don't take me wrong, I have nothing against MD. I like all SEGA consoles, but SMS is something different for me and that's why I registered. I've learned so many things here and keep finding new stuff. I just think you can find SEGA lovers everywhere, but SMS professionals only here! Have you considered why SMSPower or MasterSystem-France don't have a MD section?
