Hi everyone, I am new here and wanted to know if someone can help me out. I used to be an avid gamer back in the day and had the Sega Master System, Sega Genesis & Sega CD, as well as the Sega Game Gear. I took all my stuff out of storage this past weekend except the games (still searching for that box, I ran out of time to continue looking) for the Master System and Genesis. Does, anyone know what this stuff is truly worth? I see sealed graded games listed on eBay for over $1,000 and open games from anywhere between $30 & $400. I need to check to make sure the units are still working, but they did the last time i used them over 20 years ago. If I remember right I had almost all the games for the Master System that was released in the USA. If I am missing any, it would be the later games. I have two pairs of the 3D glasses, Rapid Fire Unit, Sports Pad, Light Phaser etc. Everything is in great condition and comes in their original box with booklets. For the Genesis, I have two Power Sticks, a bunch of games (sold off all the ones I didn't like years ago in the mid 90's) the complete unit in box Power converter, Japanese adapter to play the Japanese games and some Japanese games. As for the Game Gear, I am pretty sure it is the Japanese version with TV Tuner and a bunch of Japanese and domestic USA games. I took care of everything and everything seems to be in great condition. Any help about pricing and guidance as to where I can sell this stuff in addition to eBay would be great. If I can unload the whole collection to someone, that works as well.
I also have the old posters, press kits, Genesis coins, the very first edition of Game Pro Magazine and every issue up to a certain date in 1992 I believe. As well as a blue lock box (need to figure the code out) with literature about online gaming before it existed as I was part of a research project that Sega was doing in the early 90's about online gaming. I am sure there are more items I am forgetting, but that is pretty much where I am at now. Thanks again for reading this.

First thing you should do is photograph everything and put the pics on here. All the words in the world will not do anything compared to a single photo. We can go from there.

You'll see games and accessories listed for all kinds of insane prices on ebay, but what you need to do is check the "sold listings" checkbox to find out what's actually being paid for them. In reality only relatively few games sell for $30 or more.

I will try and get some photos over the next couple of days of the consoles and peripherals. As well as the Game Gear and Game Gear Games. That is what I have handy as of now. Thanks! I also have some press kits and pop material old posters and stuff I will post as well. Thanks for taking the time to read my post and reply.

Taking pictures of everything is the way to go. Unfortunately it is time consuming but to get the best value for what you have it's worth doing. Giving true collectors a shot at the stuff first on places like this forum, is the right thing to do. good luck! Edit: Apparently you were uploading as I was typing this post.

Games generally in good condition with cart, box and instructions are worth from $5 to $100+ depending on condition. A poor condition game is pretty much worthless unless it is one of the rarer ones. Graded games are a joke, no one in their right mind pays the high BIN prices you see on ebay, if they were worth that then they wouldn't still be up for sale.
You could sell everything in one go to a retro shop or online reseller but if you have the time and inclination, you are probably better off auctioning and let collectors and resellers fight it out.

As well as a blue lock box (need to figure the code out) with literature about online gaming before it existed as I was part of a research project that Sega was doing in the early 90's about online gaming. This sounds awesome! It was called Sega Pipeline. It was a study done by Evans Research Associates based in San Francisco, CA in 1992. The booklet has hand drawn pictures showing how the pipeline worked. it was basically an adapter you bought at the store that you would hook up to your Genesis/TV and Phone and it gave you the options to compete against people across the country and win prizes. Also allowed you to choose from 20 classic games out of the 200 game library (over 6 months old) and play them without having to buy them in the store and they even would allow you to play games months before they are released. There was a monthly subscription fee for this service. The index cards that came in the box had the pipeline receiver priced out between $50-$125 and the monthly service fee from $5-$13, depending on what you wanted to subscribe to. It was definitely a great idea at the time. Just uncertain if anyhting like this was ever introduced by Sega in the 90's. Picture attached from booklet. Attachments:

Can I see a picture of the control stick with outrun 3d? Were they originally packaged together? This is something I would definitely be interested in if they were. Thanks.
