As my collections grows im becoming increasingly aware that my home insurance wont cover my sms stuff, anyone have seperate insurance?

Whel , i was thinking the same. But that is also becose i have a music producing studio. Planning to put my SMS collection there too. It is possible and lets hope we wil never need it to relay on it.

marc have you documented it all properly? Take lots of photos and a video of walking around the collection, time stamped if possible. Also keep copies of everythings receipts, auction pages etc. Sound proof you owned it.

Unless you have a load of collections, standard policies should do. For example, mine covers up to 10k on contents. You shouldn't need to nominate anything as a "valuable" because the brackets are quite high (aimed at antiques, art and expensive electronics). But you might want to check what your policy covers in terms of total value. With aftermarket stuff like retro games, you'll just get a lump sum to replace the items lost. You should be able to talk through with your contents insurer as to whether you need do anything.
