I don't have a fixed goal other than that I want a bookshelf filled with Master System games that looks nice that I can both "rest my eyes on" and pick games from when I want to play. Gone a bit back and forth about a full PAL collection, but I have decided I don't need it and I can't justify paying the prices for the more expensive games for a complete collection. Agreed, I enjoy "resting my eyes on my bookshelf of games". Only overpay if it is a game you will play not collect. Like Phantasy Star is worth it, Buster Douglas is not...

Im finished with my NA set so Im now on the hunt for all the kiosk demos. I remember a few years ago they seemed to be all over eBay. Entire kiosk setups were available. I thought to myself who would these? Prices were quite reasonable then in retrospect.

I must admit it started out as the desire to get the games I always wanted as a kid. Once I found the website and the member collections, it was all over. First NTSC collection, then all 3D games, Light Phaser games, NTSC rerelease set. Various Pal games I actually want to play. Games my kids would possibly like, smurfs, Disney games, etc. Where does it stop?

my aim when I started collecting again was to get 100 pal games. that would be everything I had or played as a kid. im currently on 96 but still need choplifter. the ninja. world cup italia 90. Gauntlet. world games. r type. world of illusion and some more. so il prob just get as many as I can. If in time I can get the big hitters them I may consider a full collection

I started collecting video games only recently. The reason why i choose sega over nintendo was for the White Box of Sega. No matter what game everything is still findable and very pretty. At first i just wanted a Sega and a couple games. Then i decided i would complete the Sega light phaser games which i did.( Assault city is the holy grail of this collection). After that i got really confuse honestly on what i wanted to do. I got lots of games from either pal or ntsc. Once i get a game wherever its from, for me its done deal. Truly there is mybe just a few games that i still want. Not gonna lie just wont pay big $ for games. I paid lots for assault city that was only so i could at least have a complete sega collection of something. i got heavy weight champ cheap but no way i pay for Buster douglass. Same game, differente price, just cant afford.

My original goal was to collect every EU game along with the US exclusives. along the way I figured I'd pick up some select TecToy, AUS releases, variants and Mark III games. I got pretty close too; down to 3 EU/US games and picked up most of the other titles I wanted, but the collection came to a halt a long time ago. Naturally I'm missing some of the trickier EU games (Smurfs 2, Buggy Run & Robocop 3). I've come close to Buggy Run and Robocop a few times, including having them go missing in the post, but I guess they just weren't meant to be! I'd still like to finish the set at some point, but in no rush. It's not like I'm short on games to play

At first, I started to collect around 1996 to buy games I (or my brother) had borrowed from friends as kids (we had the master system in late 1987 then the megadrive at the beginning of 1990, import). Then, buying games I wanted to play back in the days wether they were from the games catalog you found with some games or that had very good marks in the old magazines. Then, started buying any games that had a good mark in the magazines back in the days. Then, started to buy anything. And that's when I discovered smspower (around 2001) I thought "man, those guys are doing an amazing archaelogist job, I want to do the same !", so I started to look around for ultra rare sega 8 bit stuff I could afford with the "not that much money you have as a student" buying also bulk lots and selling the spare/most expensive stuff to refill my cashroll every now and then. In 2004, I saw the opportunity to help try and do as smspower but for the megadrive with guardiana and my collection switched much towards the megadrive (I think it was back then that I already had completed my pal sms set) Life and it's problems going on, I had to sell a lot of stuff a couple of time but now that I'm wealthy and most importantly healthy (thanks god !), my goal is more megadrive focused. It could be summarized like "have a megadrive collection as incredible as Bock's sega-8 bits collection and donate it to a serious videogame public museum when I die" So I buy bulk lots and bulk lots and bulk lots and try to find the ultra rare stuff (that doesn't interest anybody like that second german manual for Fantasia ) always trying to buy as cheap as possible (coz just throwing your money out of the window to throw it out of the money isn't part of the fun !)

I just realized I havent updated this. I have my CIB (with hangtab thanks to Jessie) North American set, the entire set of kiosk demos, all 10 blue re-release carts and all accessories complete/sealed. For me, thats as complete as I ever could have expected. I have now moved onto an entirely new system : PS4.
