Alright, I wanted to give it a fair shot and just wait a bit longer in case anyone who I sent a PM to came around, but they didn't! Back to me! Hahahaha! Man, hard to believe it's been like a year or so since I last pulled out a game. I was worried someone might decide on this title eventually, but luckily it got to me before anyone thought of it. What am I talking about? One of the most underrated and little talked about SMS titles, in my opinion. It's right up there with Jurassic Park in terms of AWESOMENESS. What is it? [glow=yellow,2,300]Psychic World[/glow] Yeah, I so I guess you knew from the title of the thread, but shut it. Psychic World was one of my favorite PAL titles when I first started to really get obsessed with Master System collecting. It was one of those games that made me really love the system and appreciate what it could have been in the states. Another wonderful title we never got over here. With a unique plot, action and gameplay, Psychic World combines the right amount of bashing, a little bit of puzzle solving, strategy, great graphics and one of the most killer soundtracks I've ever heard. I need to give it another run myself (been about two years), but here's a video for your enjoyment! A bit annoying, but his voiceovers are kind of funny at times.

Haha, I can't really explain it, but the Ghetto Gamer always sort of cracks me up. His reviews are always so meandering and un-informative, but there's something about the unrefined diction and delivery that I can't help but love.
Nice to see a new pick up, but unfortunately this is one of the few Euro titles I don't have yet. It looks great though, the first level reminds me of Rygar if the main character sprite were replaced with Alex Kidd from The Lost Stars. I'll definitely try to get this and play this soon.

This game was given bad press back in the day, which is unfair in my opinion. Although my intial impression was not that great, I dug it out again not that long ago and quite enjoyed myself.
The music's great and although the main character is quite small and not very detailed, the control is good. Gonna give this another go at the weekend and see if I can beat the 1st boss!
Good Pick Stan and with my Journalistical experience I would love to do the GOTM very soom myself... ;D

You have any links or remember what magazines? I'd like to read the reviews.

The only review I could find was the mini reviews Sega Pro used to print in a A-Z format. It reads:
"Only the graphics can save this dreadfully boring and unplayable game. The mix of arcade and strategy might have worked if it wasn’t so pointless. 48%"

I always thought this was at least a half decent game. Unfortunately, it was only on game gear back in the day here.

After unsuccessfully trying to get this on the quick, I'm going to ROM it. I hope to play it in the next couple days. Come on all you guys with complete collections...let's keep this forum alive!

This is one of those games that it seems like a lot of people don't own in spite of how relatively common it is. It was one of those titles I figured 'nah, I'll get to it later,' and then one day put it in to my surprise finding a great title. It flows really well and kept me engaged the whole way through.

This is a pretty fun game! But it's also very hard!

Really? That's probably my only complaint with it. The first time I was able to get through it without any difficulty.

Okay, I ROM'd this. I really hate playing games without instructions on hand. What's all this EPS stuff, with that radar screen? The music is definitely great thus far, and the sprites are fairly cute. I don't really like the way it handles entirely, since you can only shoot left or right and there are always enemies buzzing around above you. I keep dying on the first boss though - I feel as if I should be doing something else. Help me, dear Stan.

I'll have to wait until I get home. I'm at my parents now and didn't bring my SMS with me this time because I have some All Pro Basketball tournamentation to complete.

I've figured out the radar grid, that's pretty cool. Adds a dynamic to the game that I've not seen in a platformer, since you can definitely use a strategy of using the invincibility ESP for much of the level, but it will cost you when you face the boss. I've made it to the third world, it's actually pretty damn tough. There are just so many enemies, and even in the second world they take a ton of hits (like those flaming heads). The control is a bit wonky, so that adds to the challenge. Fun though, hopefully I'll complete it later today.

Okay, this game is fuggin tough. If you can get through every level first try without difficulty, then Stan, you're a gaming god. I'm finding I'm really liking the game as it progresses. The power ups all become very vital components to advancing, and there's actually quite a bit of strategy in combining different powers. The problem, though, is the difficulty, which basically means, kind of like games like The Castle, that you have to memorize every screen before going into it so you can think fast and know what to do. Since you only get one life per continue, and the levels are mighty long, this adds up for a lot of tedium.
The engine and the idea are totally sound though, and at times very inspired. I'm really liking the game, I just wish it wasn't taking me so long to chug along. Another problem with it being a little known game is that FAQs aren't available online, and I'm at this level now where I am fearing I am just wasting a lot of time. Basically I am in some big red membrane, and all I can do is go up or down a central ladder, and on both paths to either side there's a boss. Every time you go up or down the screen repeats itself, and there are two more bosses to fight. I've fought about 12 already, and still it's doing the same thing.
Stan, you gaming messiah you, lend your expertise or I shall forever perish in this psychic world.

Okay, so it turned out that was actually the last level, and after all that fighting, apparently it all came down to a pattern of beating the bosses. Basically, you beat the red dude once, go up, and then fight the same red dude again on the left and a door will open. Totally random and something you'd never really guess to do without stumbling upon it, but whatever. I liked the final brain boss, a very good challenge and an excellent use of all your skills. I love it when games come full circle like that, requiring you to use each and every skill you've learned to finish the game. The ending was very lengthy and detailed, but honestly, a bit disappointed. There's no shortage of production value (there are a lot of screens), but the story is trite and totally cliche. I'm not even sure much of it makes sense, either. Considering how rich the starting animated sequence was, I was expecting a lot more. I started playing it again once I finished it to see if I was crazy thinking the game was actually difficult, and, well, maybe I was. The problem is I didn't read the manual so I really wasn't aware of the ESP upgrades until way too far down the line. Knowing that now, and knowing all the maps, I just breezed through it like it were Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars. If you make sure to pick up every power up that you see for the first two levels, the rest should be much, much easier. Overall, a good game with a challenge and a unique approach. Definitely a winner, Stan, thanks for introducing me to it. Now let's see some other opinions on it, c'mon guys.
